Heated handles???

 

Apparently Husky doesn't offer the Western (full wrap + falling dogs ) with heated handles + carb. But they do offer the full wrap , heated. So it was a factory parts add on.
I've got to bolt the dogs onto the Western clutch cover. So I have the half wrap heated handle , dogless clutch cover and the baby dog also.
I also got a spare 28" Oregon bar and a loop of full skip X Cut chisel bit chain.

I might have gone a bit over the speed limit coming home from Fairbanks to get this put together.
They had put gas and bar oil in it so I fired it up.
Factory X Cut full comp chisel chain. 7 tooth sprocket.
I'm impressed. It will at least cut right with a stock 460 Stihl.
I had a 10 " spruce log. I didn't want to split. So I cut some cookies .
Very smooth ! It gets right with the program !
Very smooth . Heated handles warm up nice too ! The wrap doesn't have heat but the rest of it does. Plus a heated carb.

I earmarked the stimulus money for a saw. And if I was going to get a saw it was sure nuf gonna have heated handles.
2nd new saw in 2 years.
I think my wife loves me. She didn't even really get after me.
Course while I was there I saw that they had a 543 . But it didn't have heated handles But the 550 or 555 did have. But. I think I've got all the saws I can get for 1 year.

Dang, I feel jipped. The last time I went to buy a hat they were sold out so all I ended up with was a 500i. I would have preferred to wait for a 500i-W (heated grips) however the odds of my dealer ever getting one were about zero.

Congrats on the hat (and the extras they threw in with it).

 

I don’t think Stihl with heat available in US got to get in Canada

So, is it 50 cc or how are they doing their numbering these days . The 572 is 70.7 cc so 71 .
Calling it the 572 sounds more than 571 and its almost 72
I had and cut with a 272 a long time ago. It was more than my 266. But not in anyway this 572. I need to get a new 116 driver 3/8, 63 ga. Chisel or X Cut chain
And do a comparison with my 288 and 2, 460 Stihls.
For now. With the border closed. Husky is the only option for those of us under the stars and stripes . If we want Warm fingers and hands.

That 550 looks Really sweet.

If the 500i was available in the Arctic Version here I Would have got one instead. There is a stocking Stihl dealer here in Delta Junction. He had a 500i with a 36" Stihl Light Weight bar on it last week when I was in picking up a new chain brake handle for one of my 460s.
He talked me into picking it up . They are SOOOO light ! I really like the full wrap. Have the same dawgs as the stock 460s R versions. Which are perfect !

That is another thing about the 572 Husky. Perfect dawgs . they are identical to the 372 Western's dogs. Which also were perfect.
Stihl has always had excellent falling dogs on their falling saws.
Husky has had some real flops
But some were great.

 

Did you get the snap in Winter Kit (plastic cover for the starter cover) with your 550 ?
I did. Had to wait 2 months for it to come in. Due to Covid caused production delays.
Please keep us updated with how u like your saw. What length bar are you using on it ?

 

I think so, have to check. It's still resting nicely in it's box as I haven't tried it yet. Got the 18" plus a rim and 20" for 3/8" so I can run the same chain as my other saws. Also picked up two rolls of X-Cut chain, 3/8" .050 and .325 .050. Got everything from HL Supply saw was 20% off and chain was $300 a roll at the time.
