I am thinking of buying a used one, about 2010 vintage, depending on what I find. Has anyone here ever had one, or know of anything good or bad about them?
I think a memeber here on FHC has one. They are essentially a tall jetta/ golf. direct injected 2.0 turbo with timing chain, so no timing belts to change. There were some issues with the timing chain and there were class action lawsuits, I'd think all that would be handled by now though. The direct injection can cause intake valves to need to be cleaned, That's something port fuel injection does not require,
Good memory! Actually we love the Volt, it is amazing. But, it was purchased to replace a car that was stolen from me, and now it is time for the planned replacement of the other car.
My Dad had a VW sedan for almost a couple decades. The bigger sedan, I don't recall the model. It ran well for him for ~~15 years. Sorry to hear one of your cars was stolen.
It was the better of our two cars. Wasn't worth much, but the original "car replenishment" plan was to hold on to it a few more years. Its theft and destruction changed the plan a bit.
