Doing a little restacking this afternoon and found this little guy. Scooped him up, showed the boy who seemed interested and went up to the house to show the wife and daughter. Have to do that through the window so I can sleep in the house on the bed at night. Wife hates em.
3 griz inspecting my cousins wood shed near Glacier Nat Park St Mary Montana yesterday at 4pm he bout crapped his pants
Cuz lives 6 months in Mexico 6 months in Montana. He’s been Montana for a week and he’s seen her a dozen times. She won’t be breathing long. On the Blackfeet rez things happen with zero repercussions and that is a sad fact. Today he had another critter at the cabin
Most, if not all, of us have had critters inside our stacks (especially during years with a bumper acorn crop), however today was the first time I had something build a nest on top of one of my stacks. The flashlight caught a shadowy form on top of a stack when I took the dog out around 0400 this morning and I initially thought it was a raccoon until I got closer and saw what it was. Knocked the nest off after daylight and there were no droppings or anything, just the boughs and a bunch of leaves so not sure what made it.
You’re only 6 years older than me EODMSgt … You’re sure a little bit of CRS ain’t kickin’ in…? Maybe you cleaned up some broken branches and set them atop that anally stacked pile?
That pile is too out of place on the stack so I would have remembered if I put it there....unless I forgot.
Funny thing is, when I was cleaning the nest off the stack this morning, I spotted the pins for the front end loader from back when I dropped it last month to install the snow blower. Couldn't believe I forgot them out there. So, apparently, I resemble your remark! Yup.
That looks like something a squirrel would do. All I ever find is stashes of acorns and chewed up acorns. Maybe a salamander if a split fell off the pile and lay on the ground for a while.
This fall at a free wood score. I thought they were cute. In that stack, I probably evicted 8 mice, little grey ones, bigger brown ones..... Sca
I cut down a dead oak last year that had a family of mice come running out of it. I hate rodents, which of course includes squirrels. Last fall we had an infestation of carpenter ants in the house. They're not good in any house, but it's worse when it's a log home. I think they came from some wood that I CSS last winter. The funny thing is, when I first noticed them, they were migrating in a big line heading from an area where I stacked the wood, going across a graveled parking lot to a corner with grass, then followed them in a path toward the house, then up a path to the house. It took me a moment, but then it hit me, "Oh, sheet! They're in the house!" I battled them for a couple weeks as I sprayed and dusted anywhere and everywhere I could.
