For those wood burners in the Portland, Oregon area, a roofing company in Tigard is tearing off the old roof on the old coliseum downtown, and offering up the old rubber roofing material for free. Its big and heavy, and the best stuff for covering firewood stacks with. I picked up several 12'x20' rolls of the stuff the other day. They are out of the rolls now, but they still have pallets of the folded up rubber sheets which is supposed to be even better quality. This stuff is insanely expensive if you were to buy it new. They are going to be getting more later this summer, a lot more according to the fork lift driver gal in the lot. Get it while the getting is good, this stuff will not last long (on the lot that is, the rubber will last a long time).

    The ad:

    This is heavy-duty thick rubber.
There is A LOT. (Easily over 15 pallets)
    IT IS HEAVY.
It's called EPDM and was used as a roofing surface. (Lay it flat and put a bunch of rocks on top to keep it from flying away) (There is a lot of dirt in these and some rain water).
Trucks and trailers are needed for these. These are too big (heavy) pieces on pallets that can only be moved with a forklift.
Your truck will maybe fit 2 pallets.
Not sure what each folded up piece size is.. it could range from 10ft by 20ft to 20ft by 20ft or a lot more.
Pick up is only Monday-Friday 8-AM-4PM.

The stuff is great. I installed it as a roofing material years ago and am using the leftovers for stacks! Thx for the heads up..... too far for me!

That's exactly what I have been searching high and low for around here.

So far no luck. If someone finds something closer I'm in and I'll do the same if I find it.

Thanks for the post. Gives me some hope.

Specialty roofing companies tend to have pieces leftover from rolls they sell or use. Wouldn't hurt to ask. It is great stuff!

BTW...I was in the gasket business years ago, and that rubber (EPDM) was used for UV resistance applications, so much better than neoprene.

I called a few commercial roofing companies, with no luck. Just need to catch the right person at the right time I think.

Uv resistant and thick and flexible and let's see...... And yes it could be free. :) It's perfect.

Looks like I got way more than I need. I have one roll left, 9 feet by 75-100 feet. Locals only, no shipping. This stuff is really heavy. Its marked "Firestone .045." If no one wants it, I will list it on CL.

StihlHead, where you at? I would love to take it off your hands. I'm near Enumclaw/Mt. Rainier south King county in WA. It's good stuff for top covers instead of visqueen?
