Here is my latest score of Pin Oak limb wood. The main stems will be sold to the sawmill for lumber. This will give me something to do in my spare time. pin oak 5-17-21.JPG

Wish I could ever get a taste of oak to see what it works like. Nice score!

I’m Oak jealous as well. Don’t see much of it around here.

Come east young men! You should not have to go far to find oak.

Can't swing a dead cat without hitting red oak in our neck of the woods. It comprises about 90% of the wood in my stacks. Heavy as all heck, sopping wet, and can take an eternity to season under less-than-optimal conditions. But man, does it heat well when it's dry.

I'm not sure of Dakota Hoarders part of Dakotah Territory but up in my area there are only a couple yard oaks planted in towns. If a person would go about an hours drive and get to one of the rivers there is some oak in the valleys there. Most of prairie out in my area is cottonwood, boxelder, ash, and memories of elm.

Brad that limb wood was from 3 trees. If we measured correctly he will have 14 or so logs going to the mill. There is going to be some nice slabs with all of the limb joints coming together. I'm in no hurry to workup those limbs, with all of the spring and summer project the wife has planned. it will be hear when I get to it. Lucky you to have that much Oak in the rounds.

Actually none of it is oak. Maybe cord and a half of black locust. Half cord ash, balance is shag hickory, red maple and sassafras. I do have oak rounds to bring in from a score though.
Either way, you are more than welcome to come and split! :axe: ;)

Not much. Got some in the older parks and neighborhoods. Not much for yard trees anymore, too slow growing. Same for groves and wind rows, just grow too slow.
