On a woodstock Ideal Steel. I've been saving my pennies for awhile now and the price increase was as good an excuse as any to make the purchase. Hoping to see a significant drop in firewood usage next season over the Drolet Austral we currently use.
Thanks Dennis! Your Fireview played a big part in the decision. Sure missed being at the gtg last weekend. Thanks Heidi!
We surely missed you too. When we were watching young Cole climbing those trees I sure wished you could have been here to see him. You may have tried to hire him too! I also hope no sickness there. I hope it is like at Nathan's. His boy with covid is not sick at all. Just basically no taste at all now.
The end of sale price increase made quite a few of us jump on the WS bandwagon, eh? Congrats on your purchase!
Barcroftb congratulations! What color did you get? Great stove my wood consumption was cut in half with more heat!
I got an email from WS earlier this week (Monday?) saying that they would still accept an order under the old pricing for a few more days...today maybe? CRS an all that Edit: Yes, old pricing honored through today...so you have like 7 more minutes at this point Congrats Brad...I bet you will love it!
Yeah brenndatomu, I received that email as well...and you're right, today is the day. Hopefully anyone who was still on the fence or who didn't get to order for some reaon can take advantage of the extension and pull the trigger as well.
Man that's music to my ears! I like css'ing farwood as much as the rest of you but 7 full cords a season is starting to get old. We decided to keep it simple and go with matte black body and charcoal accents.
You must have been running that poor thing ballz out to push 7 cords through it...most people say its hard to get much more than 5-6 cords per year through an EPA type firebox...I only go 4-5 cords per year in my Kuuma whole house forced air furnace...but you very well may be a little colder, and for a little longer than we are too...
I've never been impressed with the burn time with the austral. I'd get 5 hours tops. Liked the stove alright otherwise.
Wheels, ramps, and bars (levers) are your friends...and speaking of, 3-4 strong friends don't hurt either! Just pizza and beer them! (after the stove is in place )
I've installed 8 different stoves and/or furnaces here over the years (2 of those are still here, seems like maybe for the long haul now ) all of them 100% by myself, and without breaking (much) of a sweat...and that's with the furnaces being in the 6-700 lb range...the Yukon was 900 lbs, (but went in/out in sub-assemblies) its all about work smarter, not harder. I do have a walkout basement, so that helps, but any hydraulic assistance ended outside the front door (stoves) or basement (furnaces) so it was all me after that...some of the furnaces were able to be wheeled on a dolly, some I rolled across the floor on a couple 1" steel pipes...that works really well...you can also use 1" wood dowels or heavy wall plastic pipe too, if rolling on a more fragile surface
