And that’s why I’m glad to be able to ask a bunch of you guys before I drop a grand or so on something! Huskihl, that was a great deal on the Makita and now the Echo. I’m still looking at everything. Lenny Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I saw a decent 440/441 on FBM in NJ the other day. Homeowner used and price was a "you suck" type of deal. Just checked and dont see it. For the price of that saw you could be into a nice new MS362.
Spend a little more and get the 400 or 462. 809 is too much for a 60cc saw. A 362 should be $730-750.
That seems a bit high. I was just at a local OPE dealer and they had a couple 362's. Cant see the price tag. MS400 is $909. What is the typical size of log you cut Lennyzx11?
Just ramped up this year to about 8 cords a year. The logs run from 8-18” average. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I paid $749 for my 362C a little over a year ago with the 18" bar for it. I've done a MM on it and it runs pretty good. I rarely cut much over 20" stuff, but I have a 32" bar for it and it pulls it ok for occasional use with a full skip chain. I did modify the oiler so it wasn't so stingy. When adjusted to max now it uses 1 tank of oil to every tank of fuel. Before modding it, max was maybe 1/2 a tank of oil per tank of gas. I'm pretty satisfied with it as is, but will probably do a few more tweeks on it after talking with huskihl at the GTG last weekend. Nothing crazy but some easy mods I can do myself. I will be converting all my chains over to square filing soon also. I'm just a weekend firewood hack so I don't need a supersaw, but sure do appreciate a nice running tool that makes 7 cord a year jump into the woodshed way quicker than a 250. The 362C has been a nice step up for me. I also have a 25" bar with full skip that I run on it a lot. Pretty happy with that combo now that I have a light bar instead of the S bar I had on the 391 previously.
I ended up selling it to fund the 25" Stihl light and the Tsumara 32" light bars and some chains for them. The 391 ran good after the bearing fiasco I had with it. The guy that bought it had never had anything more than a Walmart Poulan. When I met him to sell it to him I pulled a 20" diameter round out of the truck, let it warm up a bit and his eyes about bugged out when I revved the opened up muffler and started throwing chips with a razor sharp chain. He never even dickered on the price and about tore his pants pocket off getting his wallet out. I sold the 25" S bar and a 20" bar with it. I asked him if he wanted to cut a round with it and he was afraid to touch it... He put it in his BMW SUV and I thought his wife was gonna jump out and kiss me. I called him a couple days later to see if he had used it yet and he said he had felled and CSS'ed 4 trees with it and his buddies were all impressed. It was a good sounding saw but the 362C kicks it's booty...
