Let’s just enjoy how things are now because eventually they’ll serialize every single bullet you fire and we will be required to turn in empty cases as well.

Pre 1964 Gun Control Act firearms may not have any serial number. They are legal. Some manufacturers such as the old German Lugers have numbers but they are not unique. They generally state day of manufacturing, so there could be scores with that same number.

I doubt that revolver is pre 64. They may have not removed the grips, or looked in earnest for the number.

I imagine they looked at that rusty revolver quick and couldn’t wait to toss it into the bin to be destroyed. Can’t blame them for not looking too hard at it. It’s not like it’s a valuable gun anyway. Now if I had found a 38 special without numbers I would’ve been hard pressed to report it in the first place.

Oh they definitely are. Go on gunbroker right now and it's plain to see. And with the current ammo prices you'd think the cases were all gold plated or something... Kind of wish I at least took a little bit of 22LR out of the box before I turned that gun in :hair:

Late 70's while working for my dad in his shop I had to get a car out on the highway. Ended up finding a Beretta semi-auto in the ditch that turned out to have been used in a car jacking. According to the sheriff the owner of the gun was very happy to get the firearm back.

Looky what I found this morning in the bushes along the side of the road. Seems I have a knack for finding discarded items. The right thing to do today is to keep it :) Of course if I find what it goes into I’ll turn it in to the proper jurisdiction. But I’ll keep this magazine for the time being.
