Look at the weather for the sake of your fire wood. Look out at the flags to check the wind at work. Cringe when a bad side ways rain / thunder storm comes. When the temp hits 90 say yes thats baking my wood. about wreak mowing the yard looking at the changes in your wood like it was a baby calf growing. Walk around and almost look at every stick some times sticking your pocket knife in a crack to see how deep it is. Waiting on the sap to drop like a kid waiting for Christmas. Anybody got it that bad ?
I don't have it that bad but I do go out and inspect the stacks on occasion. I check the plastic on top and make sure they haven't fallen over yet About every 4 weeks I'll take out 3 splits and resplit and test them with the MM.
I get hungry when I split ash. For some reason it looks like carved turkey to me and it makes me hungry. Try and top that weirdness! I have also described splits and "tasty".
About all I do is look at the stacks when I'm out back to make sure they haven't fallen over. Seems like they usually need some "adjusting". I have a year or two ahead so I don't worry about trying to make it dry quicker or even covering it. I did about wreck the mower into the chicken coop the other day. Was daydreaming and I guess my driving skills while not paying attention didn't work out so well. Done it a "few" times while commuting. Get home or to work and realize I remembered nothing about the hr long drive.
That's some serious tunnel vision you got going on. I can see that on the highway everyday, same thing with me. Same route, same time of day, same everything. You even get to see some of the same cars from time to time.
I truly do enjoy the experience...scrounging, cuttin, splittn, and stackin...and burnin...to me its a cool thing to watch your stacks grow...yur def not alone griz
I used to go for walks in the woods to appreciate the beauty of nature. Now I walk through the woods, look around, and think to myself , "That'll burn. Yep. That one will burn too. Oh, another one, yep that'll burn. Look at all these BTUs!"
Griz..... Ah...... I've been known to have a taste or nineand have spoken to the wood God's.... Their there, I know they are, my wife says I've seen them.... You may see them soon if you keep looking, don't be scared, there friendly...........
I look at them daily. I want to see how the cracks are forming since I'm not 3 years ahead. It matters to me.
