Had a tree company scheduled to come today to take down the rest of my Bradford Pear that had storm damage but they didn't show. No real happy about that but I did take the opportunity to build a nice stacking area in the back yard. Right now it will easily hold a big 3 cords but the plan is to eventually double the width and build my woodshed there. I have the chimney people coming out tomorrow first thing and after that I want to make a run to the DC area for a good scrounge. The last pic is what I have so far. We have about 1.5 cords of 3 to 5 year css at her parents house for this winter that's just a matter of transporting when we go up there. My wife and I just started doing this in march so I think we're in pretty good shape. Maybe tomorrow I can load her up..
I like your stacking area. AND I like your trailer. And I especially like your truck. What else you got??
Like my mom always says..... The more you own the more it owns you..lol.. After she says that my dad and I normally go to the local dealers..lol.. The only thing I wouldn't give up is the truck. She's a beast. Nothing really wood related though. Have an older car I bought new and help my dad with his. I grew up in a car/truck house. When I was a kid it wasn't uncommon for a small block to be on an engine stand next to the dining room table. My poor mom.. She's a trooper..
Thanks man. The previous owners had it everywhere and we want better landscaping with mulch so we're using it up. Great for the stacking area.
I had an 04' F350 diesel, My second favorite truck. My first was my 97' Dodge 2500 with the Cummins straight 6, awesome engine. I miss them both.
The new stacking spot with rock looks to be out in open space where the wind and sun can do their magic. Looks real good, Drvn. Part of a 3-year plan?
Nice stack! I live in a log home so was told to not use mulch around my place. So I used landscape fabric covered by river rock stone as it is called around here. It cost me 50% more than the mulch would have, but I have had to do nothing to it for 11 years. So now I'm a stone fan!
Sure is. I built it where I did because it's easy to expand. I'm gonna need it too because I'm up to my neck in oak.
Went for a scrounge yesterday and it was frustrating. The guy had an unreal amount of wood but I couldn't get my trailer anywhere near it. My buddy showed up and we loaded his truck and took it up to my trailer then loaded him again. Any ideas on what this is? Most of the rounds look like this.
Lol.. I started looking back and found this thread I started.. That stacking area has quadrupled since I took that pic..lol.. I'll have to head back there tomorrow and take a pic of what we have now compared to that little dinky area I planned out during the summer..lol..
