Burgundy Belle Maple flowers The daffodils that just opened yesterday got overloaded by snow and dropped off their stems
Yup. Thanks Every fall the mulch gets pulled back, compost spread around the crown, then mulch put back. Lots of seed heads get removed every year.
Big box orange had the bags of wildflower mix yesterday. Two yard carts of composted horse manure scratched in deep and seed broadcast out. I'll top coat it with something tomorrow and water it in. This front area is usually pretty sandy from the septic system install. Beach plums will go some where in front of these.
Supposed to have a squall line come through later today. Not sure how the tulips will fare. They are their best looking, right now
Your crab apple is beautiful. Mine, along with the other trees, are just starting to push out leaves. But, they are developing fast and every day I can see the difference.
Septic side of house again. Filling in with grass. Lots of flowers sprouting from the seed mix. I set stakes to mark the boundaries of the wildflower beds so we know where not to walk. Big crabapple from a few days ago. Every day it gets a lot of birds picking bugs and blossoms. Not much more happening now. I cleared around some small lilacs that were not kept up a few weeks ago and one actually set flowers. Lots of little lilacs, so I will probably try to improve the area. Bare root beach plums are being mailed now. I have a spot for them. Dandelions are doing well...
My crabapple is setting buds and should be blooming soon. The creeping phlox is getting showy. The batch above that second tier is slower to show than the big pink batch since the upper tier is in shad from the 3' roof overhang so doesn't get as much sun warming or rain. Rosalie Figge iris. The only reason it's blooming is that it was planted bearing buds two weekends ago. It is supposed to be a re-bloomer.
Nice looking plants. I harvested some the other day. I have 5 clumps/plants. I've cut out 6 seed heads so far.
