Love it when a plan comes together. Got the day as I was supposed to work tonight, cool and a repeat customer called me yesterday about having more wood available. Elm, mulberry and maybe apricot but sure on that one. This is load one and what was left.

And the grand total, maybe 1.25 cord or a little more. No saw was used for this scrounge.

Some nice wood. Do you prefer getting precut or cutting your own lengths Stephiedoll ?

In the past my cuts have been all over the place, but I'm trying to improve. So, to answer your question, I would prefer to cut myself and told them I would he happy to cut it up when they drop more trees.
We will see what happens. At least we can sort it out in totes plus I can use up to 22" and Lefty can use 24". In addition, we do have customers that like longer lengths.

Turned into a wonderful day, so started splitting my latest scrounge. Sperating into 16", 18" 20"-22" and longer and shorter are just on the ground for now. Should be close to a cord split today and at least another 1/3 cord left. Will get a total when done. Guessing a little over 50% mulberry and the rest elm and some kind of maple.

You get a lot precut. Do you have customers for the different lengths Stephiedoll ?

Yes I do on scrounges and when some tree services drop off. Would love to get all 16" stuff, but just isn't going to happen in real life. This will be the first year we are going to try and be more consistent so customers get what they want. Before last year we just had a large sell ring and customers would pick through what they wanted (we don't deliver) and this past winter we started using the totes but they were again mixed lengths.

Nice that you dont have to deliver. I like the "pick through" idea. I like being able to cut my own length and one reason i dont take much wood from the dump when im there.

Yep, if it's not prevalent out that way sell it as smoker wood. Better money. Just catching up on this thread, nice work Stephiedoll !
