Maybe a good FB Marketplace free wood score?

    What do you guys think this wood is? White oak?

    Also...does this forum not allow links to FB Marketplace? The ad I linked is no longer showing up in the post, at least for me.

    It doesn’t look like white oak to me. The wood looks oakish. I see knots and rot with some nice pieces. Not something I’d go out of my way for unless I was in desperate need of wood.

    It's just a little too far to drive but I'd take that if I was close. Looks like normal tree service wood to me.

    Thanks for the input guys. I now suspect silver maple myself. I will pass on this one. Free wood, is free wood, but I have only space for 5 cords, and I burn through all of that every winter. With the amount of free wood postings, and friends who hook me up, I can afford to be picky with my free wood. If it was sugar maple, I would take it for sure. I burned a lot of silver maple last year, and was not impressed. It was nearly impossible to get an overnight burn with it.

    With silver you wont. Its good SS wood. Dont blame you for being picky. Ill take if easy to get and nice straight wood.
