    Just curious if there is a reason you completely noodle? I just got a load of big ash and I just cut a kerf 3-4 inches deep across them and then pop them with wedges. I don't have a big saw and the couple times I maxed the bar it felt like by the time I cut through it was quicker and less work to wedge them, but that may be because of the saw size.

    I do the same thing when i have the maul with me, both trips i left it on my atv. I popped em with felling wedge and a hatchet. The saw is a 576 so it rips
