Are you guys taking requests? I could go for video of tandem 500is doing some synchronized sawing! Maybe Eric Schamell would be willing to record for you:popcorn:

Are you gonna be able to sleep or sneak into the garage during the night to admire it? The official FHC name for the disorder is "500insomnia"
What size bar you get? Mine was 25"

I think this site should receive a commission from Stihl for every 500i sold or offer big discounts to the members. Free Stihl waterproof jackets, gloves, hats, something. All expense paid trips to Stihl Timbersports.

Sneak into the garage , are you kidding.
I took it to bed with me.

I also went with 25 inches for the bar , He was willing to do bigger if I wanted but figured 25 was the way to go.

So does the owners manual show the proper way to wrap the blankets? Is a blanket included in the box when you purchase it? Will it void the warranty if you don’t keep it wrapped in swaddling clothes? For the price of those things it sure seems like it should come with one.

Blue velvet lined box with led lights should come with it. when you open the box it shines light on the greatness.

A MS290 and a MSA220. The 500i is a bit of overkill for a lot of the logs I was working on so I used the (battery powered) 220 for measuring/marking and the 290 to buck the smaller logs.

So far so good. Definitely a clean-starting machine with no hesitation. Cut through green red oak like it was a hot knife through butter.

It's always nice to have a bigger saw in the inventory. So far this year I've been running the 311 most of the time with an 18 inch bar, the 310 was used a few times with a 16 inch bar.

I agree completely. My old 290 with a 16" bar is still the saw that sees the most use. The 362 with a 20" bar handles most of the larger logs however I wanted to have a saw in the stable with more horses. I was originally going to get a 661 however when buZZsaw BRAD told me about the 500i last fall, I decided to get that instead. Going from the 59cc of the 362 to the 79cc of the 500i is more than enough for what I cut. I'll use this season to see how much the 362 gets used and if not much, then I may sell that and the 192 arborist saw (barely gets touched since I picked up the 220).

My last outing with mine was cutting some 18" +/- black locust Mine can=me with a 25" bar, but put a 22" on it as well as an 18" bar and it devoured it. I couldve just ran the 361 but wanted to get some gas through it. I have maybe 5 tanks through it. Your current saw line up is perfect IMO. I had a 290 wicbh i sold. My 261 replaced it.
Cut safely :saw:and hoard :tree:on my friend!
