Out to split for an hour this morning before virtual school Then back this afternoon to stack it with the kids. Really warmed up here this afternoon. Very nice weather, but boy does 76 feel hot this time of year!
Stack looking good. Do you make stacks to hold a certain cordage or just stack away and whatever it holds. I seem to make half, full or two cord racks.
Just whatever fits for the way I am “organizing” the hoed. That row will actually continue to the left of the picture and end at a tree that I stacked to coming from the other direction.
Hopefully back at it tomorrow. Put my new hitch receiver on the truck today. Gotta cut my old hitch out tomorrow then I can haul the splitter again!
Did some cutting today after finding a dead standing elm no longer standing. I had been eyeing this tree for some time but could not figure out the best and safest way to drop it. I finally settled on benign neglect being the safest course of action and it came down the other night. Bottom was fairly rotten. Great way to take down a difficult tree. Let it come down on its own, no damage done cause it was in the woods and this all happened while I was sleeping. Win, win, win situation.
I got one I’ve been driving by for a while just like that. Good looking stuff, no bark....maybe I’ll adopt your strategy
This couple hours at a time is killin me. I need a day where I can see some real progress! Got out for a couple hours this afternoon before I got rained out. Chipping away Got a little over 2 face cord split and stacked most of it.
Hitch receiver replaced. Splitter blown off, greased, and fueled up for tomorrow. Heading over to a buddy’s first to help him get some splitting done then over to my hoard to get some more done.
Is that your trusty wood truck in the background? Dont think ive ever seen it not squatting! Splitter looking good. How much you planning on splitting tomorrow?
Planning on about three hours at my buddies place. Not sure how much he has staged for splitting but figure we may be able to get a couple cords done. Then I’ll head over to my hoard. May just use the fiskars there, cause I’m currently in some cherry that’s pretty darn nice stuff for the fiskars. I’d like to get At least a cord split and stacked there. Doesn’t even look like the same truck does it Next stop air bags for the old girl, so you may never see her squat again, Brad!
Took the splitter over to a buddies this morning to help him get through some of his rounds. Splitter is nice to run when you got another hand bringing rounds and taking the splits away! Ended up splitting probably about one and a half cords there before taking the splitter home and heading over to my wood yard. Got some done before I got rained out again. I worked in the rain for a bit stacking the rest of what I had hoping it would stop but it didn’t. Head out in the morning. From this To this
Couple hrs splitting yesterday afternoon and a few hours splitting today. Got the pile knocked back so I can continue my rows. All splitting done with the tw5. I’ll begin stacking it tomorrow. Big pile of oak. Smaller pile of oak. Smaller pile of cherry.
