I was razzing one of my coworkers about the unsplit logs he has laying in his yard. Anyway, I was telling him that he needs to cut, split, and stack it off the ground so it can dry. He tells me that I don't even know and that is all oak a d walnut and he is splitting this weekend and it will be ready to burn next year. Of course I corrected him and told him that the oak will be ready in three years. He says no no no, that he has the perfect wood stove and the oak will be dry next year because of it. Unmmm, what is this perfect magic wood drying stove he speaks of and where can I get one? Flunking green burners...
Maybe it is a stove that has a dehumidifier attached to it. I know how you feel about talking to these people. They just don't get it and odds are they never will. You can sit in your warm house and and know that you are right and your family is safe. Your coworker is working hard to split the wood, and won't get the heat he could out of the wood. Also he has a greater chance of chimney fire.
The perfect stove for me would be a 3.5 cu ft cat stove with Blaze King's burn system wrapped in a Woodstock soapstone design that takes a 6" liner with <8" rear clearances.
Yeah tell me about it I can't complain to much the T6 runs and heats like a champ though and it's way easier than the old Dutchwest to run and throws more heat.
I think I pass this guys house on my way to work! I watch this guy stack wet Oak every fall, and then fog out the neighborhood everyday! I'm embarrassed for him!
