You got to be careful there; my dogs are part of my family shoot them on my land; I don’t care if they are threatening you or not. I would react in a hostile manner. My dogs like kids and women. It’s men she has to warm up to.

I totally understand. There are lots of details that we don't know. To my way of thinking, if someone says a dog is biting people I take it that it's the dogs fault and not on the dog's home turf. So I take it as a "wandering" dog.

If my dog finds an unwanted intruder in my house, he's allowed to bite them till i say stop.
Of course, he's a lab, and happy to see everyone, so he probably won't even bite an intruder... he'd probably show them where the silver is...:picard:
    Or bring them a stick:whistle:

I read yooperdave's opening statement again. Maybe we can get additional info? But I still take it as a dog biting while "roaming". I agree and understand about a dog on it's home turf biting "invaders" etc. And I also take it this dog is not biting family members.

I would protect my dog from others as well, but if I had a dog that bit my little girl (or me, but especially her), and especially a second time, it would probably be a gone dog. Depending on circumstances to a degree, it might would be rehomed. But if it were just out of aggression and unprovoked, the dog would only be taking breaths till I got close enough.

Many states, including mine, protect dogs ol even if they are not on your land. They are private property, and you can't just go shoot or harm them unless you have a VERY compelling reason. At that point, it's on the person to prove that they were right to do so. Most cases you'd have to prove that you were justified to kill/ hurt a dog regardless of the state. GLWT.

I believe that to be true.
Some may have thought differently, though.

I'm not trying to pizz anybody off or get into legal discussions, but I stand by statements about solving the issue especially on my land or with my daughter involved.

As to the "possible" location of the original dog in question.... Ooooohhhh.. I had no idea that was the situation....

Yep, those are exactly the incidents I am talking about. Because of the owner's status, the normal policies for biting dogs will not be followed.

Maybe they were "fake bites"??? :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Lab owners understand this. All we can do is hope they alert us. Then we can deal with it.

    Precisely!

BTW, we all know that most labs can't hold their liquor any way... :D :handshake:

Hayden tried to eat my dinner tonight with that labrador licker. Luckily he just licked the underside of my bowl and didn't get anything.

When our pup was young, people would come to visit and we would tell her to get a toy because it calmed her down a little and she couldn't jump up and grab a shirt tail.. So now if you break into my house you will be attacked by a 90 lb tail wagging Chocolate Lab carrying a big yellow stuffed chicken!!

I gotta watch when people visit here. If they leave their car door open, Ruger will jump right in. He loves to go!
