Snow is down in the wood and ground is frozen solid so I was able to get a little wood put up while up at our old homestead land yesterday and day before.

Some of my core stash (mostly sugar maple and birch in these stacks)

Got the 60v Dewalt in on the act on the black ash and a little poplar. I plan on going back in a few weeks, split this and then haul it out with the four wheeler.

Starting to haul dry splits back home for next winter.

It works better than I expected. We don't have many really big trees on our land and it is a nice quiet option. This morning I was using it in the dark to take down some small poplar trees around the cabin using my headlight to see. My wife never heard a thing.

That's cool! I ran a Husky electric at a gtg and I like how the chain stops instantly when you let off the trigger.

Thought I would add a few more shots. I know you all can understand how nice it was to be able to get out in the woods. The weather this past Sunday and Monday were perfect for cutting and being out there with my wife at my side working on our winter heating source. We are both a little sore after using muscles we didn't use since last fall.

Looking NE from our deck. The air was clear and cold, and the sky was such a nice deep blue.

Looks like all the saw had fun as well as yourself. Looks like a very peaceful place. Got love the serenity!

Looks like winter is still going strong in the land o lakes. Ideal conditions for wood work. IMO, around 30 is best and anything over 60 is too hot.

Compared to what I have to cut on our land it comes in a close second, in terms for BTU per cord, to paper birch. It holds more moisture than white ash, and like our paper birch, it better for burning after 18 months (cut, split and covered) than trying to burn it this coming fall, although a lot of people in my area that cut it in late winter before Easter start burning it in October.

It is kind of messy in the house because the it has a lot of crumbly bark , and since it grows best on wet ground it seems to have a lot of moss at the base, and lichens on rest of the trunk.
