The time is getting near for our Spring GTG. April 30 and May 1.We already have a good list of folks who plan on coming and a few we are sure they will be here no matter what. But if you plan on coming, please post it here or contact me via PM so we can better make plans. Here is part of the group from 2 years ago. This year the plan is to first, on Friday, go a mile down the road and cut for a neighbor as we have done the last couple of times. We enjoy helping him out because after a bout of cancer he is no longer able to do a lot. He does have wood already in log form so we just cut, split and throw it in his shed. Later in the day, after feasting on some good food, we’ll be going behind the camping area where a neighbor sold a few logs and he would like us to clean up the tops they left. We’ll probably do some limbing so we don’t damage the woods as we skid out the logs. We’ll buck and split in the open area and maybe even move some of the wood onto our place. I’m not certain but think Barcroftb will be bringing his climbing gear and will do a little trimming which is a great demonstration. Saturday will continue along with a huge feast and possibly some door prizes. Evenings and sometimes very late into the night there will be more food and plenty of drink. We have a camping area for those who come with tents or RVs. Some sleep in the house wherever and some even sleep in one or two of the barns. If anyone needs electric we will keep a spot where you can be close to the electric. We have lots and lots more pictures but this gives you a hint of what the GTG is like.
Mate, you know I want to be able to come back again this year but unfortunately our boarders are still closed to all but New Zealand. However I will find a way to drop in virtually for a short time one night. I may even buy a bottle of fireball for the occasion.
Man..... That looks like a lot of fun. Wish I could get there. Bring the dog and the camper, maybe a beer or two. <sigh> Stupid work. If only I were independently wealthy.
I will not be there unfortunately, but I will be glad to cut and send some metal cut outs if you have an idea of what will be popular. Glad to see you doing this Dennis! It will be a help in healing (for All of us) and something Judy would have wanted you to do! Please let me know. Russ
Your the kinda people i wish i was living around, thanks for sharing the pictures and telling us what everyone is doing, i really liked the single rope climbing equipment being used and all the chain saws and tools on table.
Awesome photos, looks like it would be a blast. Looking like a earlyer spring so I will have to much going on to make it, but I hope you have good weather and a fantastic turn out!
The ferry might would be easy and fun, but neither the SS Badger nor the lake express out of Milwaukee are running yet at that time.
Thank you Russ. Would love to have you come and your metal cutouts are second to none! The guys love them and I do too.
Lol. Wouldn't want to ski behind this. Well, ok maybe once. Ludington MI To Manitowoc WI SS Badger People & Car Ferry
