Thanks for all the pics and advise so far.
One of the reasons I like this machine is because it wouldn’t hurt my soul to modify it. Can’t imagine the apprehension I’d feel chopping up a $12,000 machine for experiments :)
One thing I’d like is to use this from the log lift side. Understand that for safety reasons this is frowned upon but I’m a one man show. Walking around a splitter for every round is not a time saver. Noticed in one of the vids a guy is doing just that for a short time. Eventually moves to the other side. Doesn’t look comfortable but it’s doable. Other makes it’s all but impossible.
So any of you folk operate from the log lift side? I’d like to hear your experiences, opinions.

Thinking I’d have to do some mods to the lifter eventually for that. For one I’d like to configure it to drop to a 90* angle so it’s out of the way entirely. Uneven ground would be an issue but there’s always trade offs and solutions.

I run mine from the lift side no issue. Another handy thing is leaving the lift up & loading 5-8 smaller easy to lift rounds on it at once. That makes it go fast with lighter rounds.

    Thanks. Appreciate that.
Just spent an hour or two going through Eastonmade videos. Never realized they make box wedges for their smaller, more affordable models. Also like their floating log lift. No power down to crush me in there. Might just be time to bite the bullet and buy one already made to do what I want. There would be enough modding attempting to push them up a chute without power.

If you want a box wedge, I’d go with a Wolfe Ridge or Eastonmade. The floating lift table is nice to have.

I ended up with a 28t RM, ordered today. Almost suffered an injury today loading the CL v/h machine, over it. If I could get it in less than 2 months I’d buy an Eastonmade Axis with conveyor. I hope the 28t with a few mods, including auto cycle and dump valve, suffice for my little operation.

From the snooping I’ve done it seems the commercial American models are backordered till the dinosaurs reappear.
How did your order go? Any idea on wait times? What’s a cl/vh machine? Glad your ok.
I’m looking for used decent splitters but there’s not many of them out there either. Not even box store splitters for sale, the market is pretty dry.

Order was super easy via RM website. Eastonmade is at July 2022 to start production of the next orders, as of last week. Wolfe ridge is 7 months wait. No used splitters anywhere near here, that’s for sure! Even the bigger manufacturers like timberwolf are 3-4 months backlogged getting splitters to dealerships. Compared to the commercial machines, the RM are still a value, but just less so than before price increases.

If you're using a modern smart phone, youll get a "security issue" when trying to post larger mb pictures. Take a screen shot and then send it. Or crop the pics. Anything bigger than like 8.x mb will typically not work on this site

The RM 28t showed up yesterday, finished up assembly today. I always forget pictures, but I’ll grab some tomorrow when splitting... if I remember! :hair: Assembly went well, only found two leaks at startup :picard:

The cycle time seems faster than the CL 40t, I’ll get a better number tomorrow. It’s faster than what the website says, that’s for sure. Seems like an odd choice, to undersell cycle time. It was one of my main criteria.

I still plan for a dump valve, but I’m not sure about auto-cycle now.

mikeward what do you think? Get any run time on the splitter?
