Hi everybody. Welcome a board. We decided to build a pole barn. Going to be 24'x40'.
Gonna be a slow building thread to begin with. So hang in there.
Initially was going to be open all the way around. Now it is going to be enclosed all the way around. Will be metal.
Then we got a little bit smarter. Going to have a cement floor. Chaz will have a place to work on vehicles etc.
Each end will have an opening the size of a garage door. Plus a large door opening on the south side. We are going to have areas off the south side that will get enclosed with those clear poly panels. We will just put gravel down out here I think.
So far financing is in place. Talked to our friend who is bringing his dozer up and he is coming up this weekend to make plans for that as the ground is thawed out. We talked with the Amish folks last nite and got a final quote and we agreed on.
So that is where we are.
Chaz has been working all week to get the wood move. Been spending a couple hours up each night after work.

If not too late I would recommend storage above. Cannot have too much dry storage

Oh and be sure to plan a vent for the wood stove! Chaz will like some heat! And an outlet for a beer fridge!

Thanks for starting a build thread. I really enjoy seeing other people's projects and how they go about doing them. I am looking forward to more pics when they are available.

Might as well just go ahead and put a lean-to on one side for the wood shed ;)

I’ll be watching this closely because I have been wanting and needing a building myself. And just last week I see menards has a 24 x 40 kit that seemed quite reasonable. Even has a full length lean to down the side, so I don’t recall now if the whole 24 x 40 is enclosed. I actually talked to them about it and got some paper work.
Concrete floor definitely, I work for a redimix plant so that is a non-issue. Financial is the issue!

Congrats, sounds like a great build....Wish you 2 could make it to Michigan next month, but since you are building a Barn Mahal, I expect the next GTG to be at your crib!! Lol

If you’ve never built a pole building before, find someone who is having one built, or is building one. Take a look at it as they progress, it’ll give you some ideas to questions you will have in the future. I did this and it helped a bunch. I basically built mine by myself, with the exception of a friend helping me, by handing up the roof metal. It will go together a lot faster than you think.
