Pictures are worth a thousand words, or somebody said something like that.

I love hand splitting in the woods. I enjoy completing the entire process there and then hauling a load of fresh splits home. Nice work woody!

looking good Get ahead of the game.

as far as text with pics. Once it uploads as thumbnail or full size, you can get to the upper left and hit return and move the image down to give room to type. No different that you might move a paragraph down the page on a Word document.

once done, then hit the post button.

I haul the rounds and process elsewhere but I miss doing it that way. Still trying to find the most productive way to do firewood:rofl:

I like to split in the woods. However, when the wood is too tough I use a mechanical splitter. I dislocated my knee last fall so seem to tucker out a little bit faster splitting than I used to. I've used my mechanical splitter more this year than in previous years.

Hope that knee heals. Hydraulics may rule for you for a while. They started to rule for me 30+ years ago...

If I was cutting commercially, I would, definitely buy a really good wood splitter. But for my own use, I just don't need it, at least not yet. I cut on my own place and try not to cut trees down that will be hard to split. I try to stay with easy splitting species and if I get into some hard parts of a tree, I will just noodle it. I like to have some noodles for kindling, anyway.

I forgot one detail. Take a sip of bourbon at any point of the process.

IMG_1936.jpg [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Some more hard maple stacked in the woods. I'm waiting for a hard freeze in the morning or for the soil to dry out a bit more so I can move this wood out to my stacks & split onto smaller pieces. My 2 canine helpers Bitsy the labrador & Tigger the Gordon Setter puppy.

Tomorrow am will be good. It's only 29 right now here in Ozaukee county. Either that or Thursday morning. It's only supposed to be 21° in the am .

That is of you have the flexibility to do firewood during the week.

Got 'er Done this morning - running on the freeze. Got two more stacks in the woods yet - might get them Thursday or later in the spring.
