There's a company that sells this same type of outdoor furniture in town. They are rolling in it now. They used to have stock of chairs and tables, now they have booked deliveries only. That stuff holds up well. A buddy has a few of these chairs for around the patio. They are heavy, so they don't get blown away by the wind.

That house will only appreciate, while cars 99% of the time depreciate. ;)

I was gonna say the same thing, but I think housing is going to take a big hit in the near future (Although it will almost always be a better investment). It is crazy what houses around here are selling for.

Very nice work. I like the fact that it is not too low. I’m an old fart too. Can’t stand low cars anymore either.

LLBean sells furniture made of recycled milk jugs too. The last almost forever.

True, but a rusty old car still looks funny in the driveway of a 500K dollar or more house. If your super expensive house leaves you that strapped for cash, I'd consider going with a somewhat cheaper house. To each their own, but it basically publicly proclaims that you put yourself so deep in debt for a fancy house that you can't afford a vehicle that not in danger of cracking in half. Or maybe you do have money to burn but for some strange reason you're not willing to spend it on decent transportation.

I have no time for huge houses either, I know that's not the only thing that drives up the price but. To me it screams greed and "look at me, I have money to burn". Even your average new subdivision house these days is way overpriced and too big. Id rather have a smaller house and more outdoor space. Some people start talking about needing a bigger house for entertaining, a growing family and whatnot, when people years ago held plenty of get togethers and raised 10+ kids in tiny houses. But I guess I'm in the minority there.

Maybe the car belongs to the housekeeper or the unemployed son in the basement.

Always a possibility, but when it's cosistently the only car in the driveway, I think someone's house poor. I do see instances where there's one rusty old car and one shiny new luxury rig too.

Within site of our riding ring on top of the hill we can see an 8000 sf new monster house. The owners are great and have 2 good granddaughters. The DIL kicked out the son and he's been living in the parents basement with his rusty old pickup for years. Several years ago I helped them dig out from a snowstorm while he was passed out on the couch.
Lotsa different people in this world.

Oh, no doubt, and most of them idiots

In all seriousness, not trying to insult anyone or anything, just cant wrap my head around some things. Some people probably think the same of me. I don't understand dying your hair green, but if the green haired is nice to me then I'll be nice to him. It does seem like the majority of the public are disrepectful, lazy, morons, but maybe that's an illusion because they stand out, after all 1 insult tends to stick with a person more than 10 compliments.

No. His stock comes in 8 colors already made and cut to 20 foot lengths. His banker loaned him $25000 to buy raw product and a couple machines.

Maybe they don't use the flashy car to go to work etc. You get a bid on a some service from a guy driving a G-wagen and you immediately think it's too high of an estimate. People don't like the idea that their contractor/ salesperson are getting rich off of them.;).

But yeah, you gotta have spare cash available if you own a home for unexpected expenses. :handshake:

I'm not into gaudy homes either, but especially with the loonie / dollar exchange rate that only makes it even more of a bargain. Around here, there's some McMansions that go for close to that kind of money that the property you posted.

TrinitySouth99 as I am one of those people ie house poor; with more home than I need. Granted I have land, and for 18 years a beater in driveway. I understand your thoughts.. what did I want lots of land and a garage built into a hill with living quarters above 1/2 hour from location xx.
BUT You have to buy what’s available, what bank will finance, make a ton of compromises that comes closest to meeting your needs/wants. Is my house a mansion? No. Got 3 plywood windows o_O
Does a then single guy with a 2 & 4 year old high energy boys need a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath 2200 square foot house with 3 car garage and 30x40 pole barn? NO

Property market here has been going up and up for 40 years! Why did I pull trigger even though 50k over what I could afford?
Plus side was 2x longer than negative side and it made sense financially :handshake:

I agree about the not liking them getting rich part haha.

Mcmansion, had to look that term up, hadn't heard it before. But yeah, it's not hard to find over priced houses. It's crazy what some are selling for.

Fair enough, I have to say 2200 sq ft house with garage and barn sounds better than a 5,000 Sq ft house.

The thing with McMansions, is that they are all practically the same, just different colored siding or roof etc. Most are put in former farm fields turned into subdivisions.
