Responded to a Facebook ad for free "pine/bonfire" wood. Filled the truck then ripped the back of my jeans out bending over.
Split and stacked some of it but then it got too hot outside to continue. Might get another load as the lady had several huge piles of it and is having more taken down.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.
You should get her going on the last load and tell her where you're going to burn it.

Good for you. That pine will put out btu's too. There are a lot of us out west that depend on that pine to heat our homes.

I just read the funniest FaceBook post comments about burning Pine. I noticed most of the people saying how dangerous it was were women. Of course they hgad to all CAPs "DONT EVER BURN PINE!!! YOU'LL BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN!!!

I asked them what they think people out west burn who only have access to softwoods? Places out west that get 2-3 times colder than your homestead in the Carolinas!!! Then I mentioned how I burned at least 3 full cords of EWP in my indoor stove this year, and am currently burning Pine as I type.

    LOL

Pine is fine all the time
    but as we've seen,
    never burn wood that's green.
So if you don't want to cry
    Always let your wood dry.

CSS'd some pitch pine this weekend. Not as big a heat payoff for the effort as hardwood, but BTUs are BTUs. Dries out nice and quick too!

Got a half-cord of pine waiting to burn. Was waiting for shoulder season to get into it. But, the way we're warming up, it might just be the Fall shoulder instead of the Spring shoulder.

I will try not to burn the house down or melt the stove. :faint:

Pine has surely kept me warm on many nights and a brighter more cheerful fire than most other wood while it’s doing so. And it dries quickly if you are coming up short on your three year plan.

I hope you all know I was just having fun with that previous comment I made! I’ve been known to throw Pine in my stove from time to time - don’t tell anyone - our secret.

Pine is fine! If you had had kept wearing the ripped jeans you would have been more comfortable in the heat!
