I took my saw full of fuel and cut till it ran out, then loaded mostly stuff that I cut yesterday. I was only gone from the house for a little more than an hour and a half. Just looks like I did a lot:rofl:

Back out for a little cutting between shifts. I finished cutting up the cherry limb and got a mixed load of red oak and mostly the cherry. Pic is what was left of the cherry and oak after the load. Pretty windy out. Glad I didn’t have to fall any trees:whistle: 2B49ABFE-5FDF-47EE-A5B7-A8F63AFA94BA.jpeg D6330F22-BD2A-414A-9DD6-D81C750415A8.jpeg

All ready for a big haul tomorrow! Got one load out today and cut up four more trees today. Hoping to get two cords out tomorrow. Another beautiful day. Got a couple big guns I’m gonna have to take down. I’ll bet pics tomorrow. 6036DEF2-8218-4828-8E25-1F7EA05DBE8E.jpeg 914C6954-6DF9-4EA1-A7E5-BC35F94CCA9C.jpeg B3B2FA06-D8CA-4DCA-BE9D-3CA28545F1D7.jpeg 224EE86D-77E0-438E-9671-DFB83E8BD017.jpeg 6703AD02-5DCA-46B3-A011-5CBE39D028D6.jpeg

Did some catching up today. Started out over at my dads for a couple hours tearing shingles off before heading to where I’ve been cutting wood. Able to get everything out I had cut, so I can return to cutting. At the wood yard I was surprised to see a dead muskrat on top of my rounds pile. Didn’t think to get picture but just laying on top of a round dead! Pic of the tree is the big one I need to take down. Pushing 40” diameter. Will get measurement once down. Been ideal conditions here with rain forecasted for later next week. Finishing out the evening with a little outside fire:yes::coldfire: 8C7EED62-F674-4045-A6F6-5BBB3FF64B3E.jpeg 01413009-54DA-4733-9990-97B9A32257C3.jpeg EFA225D2-9E4B-4EDB-9D9C-23BB854A58EC.jpeg 8C68057C-93C8-49A9-91B1-B1204DA779E7.jpeg

Nice! Fire looks inviting! Do you figure each PU full a half cord?

I figure my truck for a face and the trailer and FIL truck for 2 face each. Fire was definitely nice, but boy, does it get chipper when the sun goes down!

Three loads out today, and little seemed to be going right! Ran several tanks through the saw. Went to cut a double trimmed stump down after falling each trunk independent of each other. Had the bar buried, and hit water where the two trunks joined. Ran for a few seconds cutting well then chain stopped. I think the tip was already hot and when it hit the water, any lubrication there was washed away and the sprocket seized and the bar started to delaminate! Took a load to the yard and ran into town for a new bar. Ran back and cut the last saws worth of gas and got a second load. Unloaded at the wood yard and went to get the kiddos at school. Then returned and cut one more saws worth of gas after filling up at the gas station and got a third load! Worked for it today! Me neither! I’ve had water tons of times before and never had a happen. 45 bucks for another bar/chain combo, and I was back in business.

Oregon. Started cutting into the stump and suddenly, chain acted tight. Took chain cover off and chain off. Knocked chips out. Put chain back on and left chain a little loose and back to cutting before I hit the water. Hindsight, I believe the front sprocket was failing the first time I told it off. I think the bar buried in the stump and the water were the nail in the coffin. Whenever the bar gets chips in it and the chain doesn’t want to turn, I seldom take the chain off to remedy the problem. Usually just push bar nose against log to try and manually get the chain to turn. Probably part of why it failed too. Like I said though, in the end, 45 bucks and a new bar/chain and back in business! I did check my piles to make sure it was piling and no problems there.

Sounds like it was starting to go. Maybe too hot and the water caused a thermal shock??? I do the same with chip build up and binding. Ill dig into the edge of a log and push/pull to free it up. I was bucking tulip poplar Saturday and it happened as it was flying through with a waterfall of chips.

New bar Oregon? I have a 20" Oregon and a 22" Carlton. All the rest are Stihl.

I just replaced it with the same Oregon bar that I had on it. Up till this year, I had ran the stock husqvarna 20 inch bar on it, but switched to the Oregon to give it a try this year. I’ve cut almost 60 cords with that bar, and for 45 bucks for the combo, I can’t complain! It gets used all the time, abused some of the time, made love to none of the time:rofl:  It is a tool! Maybe I’ll try the Carlton next time. You been pretty happy with it?

When i bought my MS361 last Summer when my 460 went down, it came with Stihl 18" and Carlton 22" bars. Odd ball size but ive run it on my three bigger saws and like it. I prefer Stihl bars on Stihl saws...just and OCD thing with me. The 20" Oregon i bought when i got the 460 powerhead as it came with no bar but two 20" chains.

Got another three kids today. Fell a pretty big one with a lot of limb wood. D4443BC0-FB07-48C6-BC77-407E4D9A364F.jpeg I fell an oak across some oak rounds. I’d sure hate to be that round!
