    Hey, red oak does not stink. It just has a different odor and I never thought it to be offensive. Some do though.

    Dang you are nice and dry over there! I’m still dealing with snow and mud! I really like the smell of red oak, reminds me of being warm by the fire in the cold winter. Can’t say as I have come across black oak yet.

    I recently stacked some fresh cut red oak rounds. It smells like wood to me. Not offensive. My wife walked over to the stack, took a good whiff and said, yup, that's wood.
