Spent 3-1/2 hour digging a short ditch with the Kubota this morning. About 4 foot deep. Water is running slow but sure. This will dry out another area and keep it dry. Then I’ll be able to do some work in there when I eventually have the time.

:thumbs:Today was the last day to do anything with the tractor for a while. So I will have a vacation from any and all ground work. Everything will be mush from here on out for a bit. And it’s best to just leave the tractor in the barn rather than work in slop and tear everything up. Top of ground was firmed up nicely this morning with the cold and everything went well.

(Except I had to spend a half an hour this afternoon digging the stuck clay out of my backhoe bucket to get it cleaned out! Note: Ice spade works well.)

Had about 75 sq ft of flooring left from the last bedroom so I laid it this evening since it was plenty acclimated. Will do the rest Sunday or Monday.

Might fire up the splitter tomorrow.... we'll see.

Nice work again man. When you finish this house and get it just the way she wants it you may realize that you could make a nice chunk of profit on all the labor and love you put into it.:D

Was surprised just a bit ago when an owl landed really close. Then it got quiet for just a short time and when he started hooting again another one answered. I feel blessed.

I often have owls set up on the tree line in my backyard, then it will start calling to the others in the woods. Pretty cool for sure.

Great horned owls have hatched owlets in MA. I heard some a few nights ago that woke me up but have yet to see them. We saw the triplet almost yearling deer today without their mother. Maybe she shooed them to be on their own.

I was moving the splitter to the driveway and a large group of hens went to the birdseed. I went in the house and they were only six feet away.

A lot of the turkeys in the area are all around today looking for mates. They are making quite a ruckus and stopping cars.

These are the smaller toms. Shorter beards.

Have you named them yet Jon? I see drumstick, turkey burger, early thanksgiving, his brother Smokey, can’t quite tell but looks like fried is hiding in the back.

"Bird feeder" takes on new meaning when Mr owl is hanging out there...he is looking to feed, but not on seed!
Sometimes our outdoor cats like to hang out at the bottom of the bird feeder to "hunt" (never seen them succeed) I always say they are looking to turn that bird feeder into a cat feeder! :picard:

I agree that sweat equity pays off in the long run. Our bathroom remodel saved us $10k and had to add at least that to the overall price of the house.

We get owls hooting on occasion, but the weirdest sight was one this past fall on the power line outside the house at dusk. He was pretty exposed and I was surprised to see it. Coyote are back now roaming through backyards and streets. Haven’t had them here in about ten or more years.

LOL. I'd be lucky to get my money back if I sold today. Finishes are way too high end for this house and this area, but we like them and they will last a long time. Buy once, cry once and stuff.

I have a few local hawks that like to feed on my chickens... when I chase them off of a dead chicken, they scream at me.

When I first got chickens, I had several nightmares where hawks were killing my birds. Then they did it for real! :(

Today, I hauled some popple, got the mower stuck, got the mower un- stuck, dropped a big tree, cut up the big tree, cleaned out/pressure washed the chicken barn and... I am exhausted. Very good and satisfying day.
