Tues draw at the Doc's, said today, standard blood tests... no Lyme. Had an odd bite of some sort in the beginning of April that got infected. It's gone away now. Center was 1" dia clear, with a red ring around it maybe 2" dia. Puffed up a marble sized lump. Never really did the rash thing and never found anything at the center, so I was pretty sure it wasn't a tick nymph. I hit it a lot with antibiotic stuff. Lasted maybe a month. Weird. Prolly a spider bite, dunno. Didn't like the bullseye look of it much. Didn't take pics cause I was hopin' it didn't happen... ;) ... and, it worked.

I normally don't spray the yard for bugs, but I am running out of patients with those ticks. Found one on the back of my wife and she doesn't even walk on the lawn. That antibiotic for Lymes is a bit hard on the body. I took it twice in a row to beat the Lymes back. Now I am paranoid as heck. (valid). Avoid them if you can, but mostly take protection. No shorts when in the grass or woods. Spray yourself when going in the grass/woods and get checked over when you return home.
the last picture shown is much like the bite I had, but mine was twice that size.

This will work on my wife. :)
All I have to tell her is that I saw one on me and she will freak out.

Ticks and black widows are both becoming a real concern in my neck of the woods err desert.

I could deal a lot easier with the ticks as opposed to the Black Widows. Not @ all fond of spiders.

Not near as quick as the wolf spiders that run rampant here. To my knowledge most ever spider can jump. I've only really seen tarantulas and of course jumping spiders actually jump.

Bad enough on us, but kids have little concept to look out for those critters. Good reason to keep clutter out of the yard, grass trimmed close and the brush trimmed back from the lawn. Those critter hang out where they can find food.

Agreed, can't imagine the heart attack I would have if a little one decided to be near the stacks. Bad enough in the fall when I move the wood onto my back porch, I pick up each piece and inspect it individually. The stacks are like spider condos here

Hope your buddy recovers fast Scotty.

I love northern ohio for so many reasons. Sure its cold in the winter but I dont see ticks or anything poisonous in my yard in the summer. Bring on the deep freeze.

Not that I want summer to end anytime soon, but I do share your thoughts when the change of seasons starts. The colder the safer with these little devils.
