That's a load. Surprised you didn't get stuck. Ever thought about getting some air bags for it?

Got out for some cutting this morning. Barely got one load out without making too much of a mess. May be a few more days before I get out there for hauling with how soft things are. Went back after unloading (took pic after I started unloading...I know, it didn’t happen  )and parked and walked back to do some more cutting. Did a fair amount of noodling to break down trunk rounds to more manageable pieces. Got at least one load left in pile , which makes better than a cord for that red oak and then fell an even bigger red oak! Gonna work on breaking that down next time I’m out there:yes: 9588D94B-F1D3-4355-BE2C-56FF36C6EE8D.jpeg 5692D9BD-5E93-4E14-9FF0-EBA4F29BB3EB.jpeg AD4C7211-AC91-4B90-AF0B-F31D3A8E29C5.jpeg C37A55FD-1D90-4A4D-846A-FBBE0283A2DD.jpeg 59DD5C17-09B1-4317-8FA0-096D3F0BEE8E.jpeg

when I go to do this, should I get both the leaf spring helpers as well as the air bags? I have wondered this when looking into it before. I think I’ll just use the compressor at home too. Keep it relatively cheap for the beater truck:rofl:

It's white spruce from a big burn here. 20 bucks a cord In the deck. The logger sells firewood in 20' lengths and delivers with a long flatbed dump. Aparently his customers don't like small diameter firewood. Most of what I got was 6" dia on the big end .
I stopped where I did because it was my first load on that road. It's around 6 miles off the mainline. Then another 13.5 miles to the highway.
    It's around a cord and a half.
I'm gonna setup my 12" miter saw with a length stop and wack it up into stove length.

For a half ton, I would add a helper and the air bags . Or get a heavier duty truck. ?
Maybe one with a headache rack to protect the rear window

Awesome stuff you got there. Looks near ready to burn too:yes: miter saw with stop sounds like a great idea and your stacks should be near perfect!

Next week my hope is to get Smokey and the EPL across the river and give it a working tryout.
I can only cross the river via the ice road so am hoping for more below zero weather.

That's a lot of oak and noodles. Way to hustle. Hope you get more dry weather.

Just the air bags. They will hold plenty.

Cut up the top of the red oak I fell earlier in the week for a load plus what is still laying on the ground. Ground firmed up nicely with the sun and wind the last couple days. Head out in the morning to finish cutting it up and haul a couple more loads out. Nice weather. May have been too warm without the wind:rofl:  E9E9D252-4285-4FAA-9B56-BCEFF910D9F6.jpeg C8C1E6E4-3D30-400E-AED3-5CC9FDCC5993.jpeg 78AB35AB-210F-42FF-91BD-D54851819FF2.jpeg

He’s always there but I have yet to see him put a single piece in the truck!  I do need a headache rack! Had the truck for 7 years now and just threw my first one through the back window this past fall. I have several things to do once I’m done using the truck in a couple weeks. Broke side view mirror off this winter. Be the third one I’ve put on. Air bags. Headache rack. New trailer hitch. That’s what comes to mind!

Finished cutting the red oak trunk. Had to noodle the last 15 pieces of the base to be able to handle them. Hauled 4 loads out. One left to haul out tomorrow. Looks like elm is next on the menu. Pics of a couple loads. Some heavy stuff! 9087D99E-29B2-425D-8F54-136D517FF937.jpeg D3A12DD0-4369-4501-A807-FD5BC06DF6EC.jpeg

Looks heavy! Good looking load sir. I think your truck got a hernia! Nice that the ground has been better for you. Still some mud around here. Dry enough for brush fires though.

Shadow hernia? A new FHC disorder?
