My 362 is probably my favorite saw of the ones I own, but I like them all for various reasons.
On another note, my cousin used to cut and sell firewood and ran a stock 361 with a 28" bar for years and still has it. He had a couple of smaller back up saws including a little Echo he likes but the 361 was his main saw. He never cut softwoods with it, because he always sold mostly Red Oak, and a few other hardwoods occasionally. He used no other bars except the 28 incher. So, based on his history, I would have to assume the 361 to be a solid saw.

If I had any complaint at all with my 362 it would be the stingy oiler, which is adequate for the 25" bar I run, but I still wish it would or could throw a little more oil, so I run a mix of winter grade along with the cheaper stuff. It could benefit from a little more power, and a porting job may be in it's future. But it's powerful enough, just have to be smart on chain choice and sharpening on some of the hardwoods.

One thing I do like better about the Husky's and my 461 is the availability and price on full wrap handles and the style of full wraps available.

 That is a sweet saw huskihl has. If I was in the market for a saw that would be it.

When i bought my 361 (barely used) in August it came with 18" Stihl and 22" Carlton bars. I ran it once with a 28" bar to buck some 24"+ sugar maple and it handled it fine. The 25" bar from the 500i will get switched to the 361 Ive been juggling all the .375 bars among the bigger saws as of late. The 25" bar that came with the 500i got used on it for the first time today. Noodled with 18 & 20+" bars on the 361 & 460 yesterday.
Lastmohecken have you turned the oiler all the way up on the 362?

Yep, I bought the MS 311 for the cost. The pro model would have been the 362 and I just couldn't do it for 1 pound in weight savings.

So glad to find this thread! Was just looking into some 59ish cc saws. I actually stopped by a local dealer this afternoon and looked at the Echo CS-590 with a 24inch bar because I've been interested in upgrading from my little CS-310 (which has served me very well but the stuff I'm cutting now is just too much for the little guy).

Guy told me that if I could wait a couple weeks they have a 15% sale going on and I should come back then. Looked really purdy tho, I almost went home with it then and screw the sale haha!

gotta say it was heavy picking it up. i'm used to a much smaller saw but it made me wonder; are they all that heavy in that power range or is it just Echo?

The 590 is relatively heavy. That's it's drawback. If you want lighter you need to go to a pro saw that has a magnesium case.

Yes, I have turned it all of the way up, and it's adequate, I guess. But it don't or won't throw oil off of the end of the bar, that I can tell.

I dont know about any other saw brand, Ive had a revived Stihl 023 and 029 and have had two new MS 251Cs, cant complain at all. Went through a few bars and a clutch with the first one and it started to smoke but I used it for 5 years in the firewood business (not daily use) and sold it for half of what I paid for it. How can you beat that?

I had a 362, and mine was the same. Just barely enough oil for a 24 inch bar.

I love my CS-310 Ive beat the hell out of it even forgot to fill the bar oil one time and ran about half a tank through it before I realized it. Let it sit for 9 months and it fires up on the second pull, 4 years old and still on the original plug pulled it the other day and it looks good. Bucked up some 20" cherry and black locust with it Friday only downside to the 310 is the slight oil leak they all seem to suffer from.

Not just Echo but that is one of their drawbacks. The better the power to weight ratio, typically the more you pay.
    My favorite saw is my Husky 357 - 56.5cc 12.1lbs 4.4hp was $680 new.

    Echo 590, 59.8cc 17lbs 3.89hp advertised $419 w/ 24”.
