Yup. We are sitting at 1 degree blowing 30 gusts 40 wind chill -24. Good day to stay inside. Boiler working overtime to keep up. I don’t think it has stopped running since about midnight. Had to get up and refill at 3.

Staying inside this morning. To hell with going out in the cold. I’ll take care of some bills and inside chores. This afternoon I will go for a walk through the woods and get a workout done. We lost a good amount of snow before this cold hit. All you hoarders have a safe day. And have some fun.

And although our daytime temps weren't that bad yesterday, that wind was raw. Sounds like a repeat today but maybe 5 degrees or so warmer.

It always amazed me how people tend to think big machinery and trucks take a big man to run. I recall one time getting a lady to drive and people thought I was crazy (I was and am). But it didn't take muscle to do the job... Same when I worked in a shop and we got in a big fork lift. The forks were 12' wide apart and it could go front and back like normal or you could also go sideways. One also stood to drive it. Tricky at first but fun to operate. I had one man and 2 women who drove it. It did not take muscle to drive either.

So true Backwoods Savage best heavy equipment operator I know is a 50 old woman Donna; of course she started at 2 in Dads lap! Her dad loves telling story at 12 she was summer employee a few men complained she was making almost what they were.

Then your overpaid as she is a better operator :faint:

I've been in a few positions where I did hiring and training and supervising. A piece of advice I received once were to really take a good long look at youngsters who came from a farm background; both male and female. Use each one where their skills were over putting them in something they knew nothing about. But if you do have to put them there, they usually are fast learners.

It must be all the rain and because I have not learned my lesson about stack height, but I have 3 cords on the ground and 5 more bending towards earth. Ugh a splitter day will be wasted restacking.

March is coming in brutal, so here's to hoping the old saying is right and it ends nicely. Had another 6" storm today. Halfway through the storm, Forklift got stuck and the landlord had to push her out of it. Had no choice but to give up until the lot was freshly plowed and even then, approaching the doorstep, kept spinning out on a slick spot. eventually our receiving manager who was driving at the time, backed most of the way across the parking lot and gunned it. Thst worked. The store manager was watching out the window and when I went inside, said he thought she might not have been able to stop. I told him the concrete doorstep would have worked if the brakes didn't:rofl:

Another mistake is to assume that a bigger person is always stronger than a small one. That assumption can come back to punch you in the face.

It got to the low 40's today, but 30+ mph winds sure didn't make it seem that way.

At least it was sunny, and it will get warmer.

You can actually see parts of our lawn in spots now. It will go from 2' feet of snow everywhere too not much by the end of this week.

Yes, only available in black. That way you can't see the sweat when you soak that shirt. BTDT sweated through my shirt once or 5 times. I really really try not to did any work like that in the heat. Sometimes it just happens though.

I would say March is coming in like a lamb. Low 40's now headed to the mid 50's in a week. Snow is going and mud is coming.:headbang::headbang:

As DaveGunter and tree killer have said, Maine is very cold and windy to day. Many thousands with no power. Lucky for me, we are still up and running. The wind gust are up to 50+MPH, the temps are 10-15F. but the wind makes it much colder. We stayed inside all day. No way would I go out.. Molly goes out for her duties and right back in. I could see my son's Husky outside playing in the snow. He seemed to be enjoying it. Should warm up tomorrow. I am having my stove cleaned tomorrow. Now too hard for me to do a good job of it. Also having the door gaskets replaced. With my breathing condition, I have to stay away for the ash dust.

Low yesterday was 5* and the wind was brutal. Even with the bright, constant sun, and the afternoon temps at 19* I ended up with the main floor stove on constant burn because it would start shut down, get close to the end (only exhaust blower going) and start right back up. The wind was shrieking all day and big gusts would start the house to shaking. Even had to go rescue my Ice Screen off the truck as only one corner was still being held by the passenger door and it was trying mightily to escape being earthbound. It is normally held by both doors, the windshield wipers and magnets without any issue. I used that Ice Screen for my old red Explorer too and have never had it come off like that. Every time I looked outside to see the trees being whipped about I was thankful that the old willow tree was taken down a couple of years ago.

Last night the wind let off enough that I could put that stove back at letting the thermostat run it. Clouds must have come in because outside temp is 18* now.
