Heatwave !!! 30f burning slabs . Feb10-18 I burned more wood then ever it was like a 2014 out brake . 5 bundles 2200 lbs each oak in under 10 days . That's like 11,000 lbs of oak at 20% there some serious heat ..boiler topped out at 270,000 BTU output per hour for them 8 days . Averaged about 200,000 btus to the buildings . Totally crazy . Polar Dragon feeding frenzy.

A damp gray 39 degrees outside but the house is a bright cheery 73. One large gnarly crotch piece of sugar maple going surrounded Aspen.

Mud season in full effect here. Standing water in parts of the yard and driveway went from ice/snow to mud in 36 hours.

I'm gonna clean out the boiler today. Nice a wet snowpiles to dump hot ash in without fire worries.

We had 29.1 this morning with some not so great maple going in the Liberty. Our high today was just over 41 with possible rain coming in so we put in two smaller loads of firewood in.

Got the tractor out just to warm it up so went into woods where we plan on cutting for the GTG. Snow has shrunk quite a bit. Had a short sprinkle. Went in back on our place and deer all over the place. Most just stood still and watched me.

Ended up with an easy 8" (maybe more) of heavy snow today. It began around 9:30 ish and for awhile, really came down hard.

No plow today, but got the shoveling all done just before sunset as the snow had stopped by then. There were even a few breaks in the clouds.

21 now and heading to 0 for overnight.

Holy cow! I bought it was going to be mild for several days and didn’t check the forecast. The scraps I put in yesterday afternoon weren’t added to for overnight.

5:30 this morning, I check the temp and it is mid-thirties and will be that all day.
Went outside to find the damper fan on, but there was a great bed of coals glowing.

gave the dragon a hearty breakfast of ash and hickory and will be good all day. Dodged that one!

30 this morning. Cherry and Ash still burning from last night. Time to get some more firewood inside after I get my caffeine in. Suppose to be 0 tonight.

36 outside with what I’m going to call my “Rocky Mountain Mix” of Aspen and Spruce throwing the heat this morning. Time for more coffee and some breakfast. 8B29989F-099A-42AD-935C-C5D768C7AA76.jpeg
