What do you think about the GMG new prime WiFi Jim Bowie wood pellet grill? 50 sq in less cooking space but quite a few more features and just as rugged for about $200 less and 8 lbs heavier maybe better built. You can also take it camping and plug into the car battery. Jim Bowie - Green Mountain Grills
I had looked at those, camp chef, and Grilla Grills as well. But I’m kinda digging Bull more. I would love to know what Shawn Curry thinks of having his rec Tec for the past few years
I have the GMG Danial Boone Prime Plus. I really like it. Very well built. Nice caster wheels to move around easy. WiFi is easy to use. Just pulled off some BBQ chicken thighs and legs, very good!
I know the first gen had some issues and then Weber had another go at it and it hear it’s much better and a great cooker
I have had the RecTec 590 for about two years. It has been great. I had trouble holding temp at low settings and had to adjust the auger speed one time. The factory tech explained that different regions of the country will require different settings, Georgia winters VS Ohio winters. Once changed it has been great. The bull has a chimney and the 590 has three vents out the back. The vents are for even heating distribution, I haven’t noticed any great benefits of the vents. It makes it harder to cover with my welders blanket and still keep the vents open. Temp doesn’t really fluctuate much at all. The WiFi feature is great. I check my phone at night or while I’m doing other things while the smoker is running. I have no regrets buying the RecTec and would do it again. I have an older Traeger that I still use along with the RecTec and recently acquired a used Weber 22 grill. They all have good merits.
I’m not sure. RecTec does have a PID controller which holds temperature very well. The downside with minimal temp fluctuations is that there is less smoke billowing out. The flavor is great without the smoke show but I like to watch the Traeger as it plays catchup with itself and the smoke drifts around my smoking area.
Hello I believe I found the answer because a replacement auger motor for the Rec Tec is 2 RPM 120v 60Hz so it is the older AC motor.
We have the lowly Pit Boss smoker/ grill. I've used Trager and pit boss pellets. It's a decent smoker. Grilled 6 ribeyes last night Bacon wrapped turkey breast at Thanksgiving 1st ribs I ever did on it.
I have one of the older models of Pit Boss from before they added the wifi phone monitor feature and I love it. We pull ours out year round. One of my favorite things to make on it is a buffalo chicken pizza. The smoke flavor catches in the chicken perfectly
That looks . Ours is the 700s I think. It doesn't have the Wi-Fi stuff either. We keep it in a storage building, pull it to the door and use fan to blow the smoke out.
I do the same thing. I've lost too many grills outside so I wanted to protect this one and it has shown. Even have a pop up sunshade to put it under for long smoke times and expecting rain.
