This is firewood related.... I finally got around to building a fire pit in my backyard. All the rocks came from my yard. More work than it looks like! But I like the way it came out. Gonna have the first fire tonight and I'm going to do it right and burn some cherry.
Looks very nice indeed ! Gr8 job ! You guys ever accidently use a sandstone fieldstone in the making of a fire ring ? Started a winter fire... All of a sudden... Kaboom ! That was years ago that i learned not to use those !
Don't know about sandstone. Its pretty much all granite around here. Maybe there was some frozen water inside the sandstone that went to gas quick and split the rock. Hopefully no kabooms here tonite...
Exactly !! Granite fieldstone here from now on !! You wont have a prob at all...thats primo stuff you have there....Im jealous
Great looking pit especially if made out of stones just lying around. That metal grate should let the wood burn bright and warm. Good job!
Beautiful pit and space there. We're sitting at the keyhole firepit as I type this. What a fabulous night to sit at the fire......
I really like the above ground pit. I built a key hole pit from flint I believe a couple weeks ago. Nothing like dazing off into a fire. Have some cedar burning in a chiminiea that smells amazing. There is a lot of work in that pit and it shows. We have been doing lots of flagstone patios, river rock, and decomposed granite at work. After moving each rock umpteen times it really takes a toll on the body.
