It’s in the Stihl 2021 catalogue I picked up today at ope dealer. I asked the mechanic and he said he would look to see if he could order one, but I said wait until I have new saw $. Mechanic is super nice fella that remembers me by name. He told me he had ordered a spool of 3/8 .63 for when I needed another chain. He said only me and another guy ever asked for.63. The only reason I was looking is because of the Tsumara I got for the 661.
I also found it interesting that they only had 5 gal of Stihl platinum in stock. Still no 500 on the shelf.

Do y’all think they will phase out the 362? It seems like it’s getting close to overlap with 59cc, 66cc, 72cc, 79.2cc saws. Maybe they are capitalizing on cad. 50, 70, 90 is mostly all I’ve ever used or needed for firewood.
Anyone here have a building for the sole purpose of storing chainsaws? Life goals

I'm kinda interested in the 400 I. It's gonna be 65 or 66 cc correct? I ran a ported 500 I a couple weekends ago, man those really rip the throttle response is amazing. The 400 would probably put a big hurting on a 362.

If a ported 400i runs like my ported 044 it'll put a hurtin on a lot more than a 362.

Only thing I didn't like about the 500I is that it had a primer bulb. Why would fuel injection need one of those? Some folks might like primer bulbs, but I hate them and that's one of the reasons I got rid of my 550xp.

I agree tamarack . Primer bulbs belong on home owner equipment only! Trimmers and blowers...

I’m wondering if the 400i or 261c will be my next saw for trim/limb. Not sure if the 400i will be light enough??

Purge bubbles are there to fill the fuel line all the way up to the carburetor so that the saw will usually start within two or three pulls. The 500 has one to pressurize the fuel system so that the injector has initial fuel to start.

    Bulbs seem like
The lightness of the new saws is what stands out most to me. When I’m cutting and it doesn’t feel like I’m supporting weight. If I’m cutting for any length of time I have a forearm that cramps. Similar to forearm pump when riding a dirt bike. With the 261c and 462c it doesn’t happen. I can cut longer with less arm and back fatigue.
I’m sure eventually I’ll succumb to ported saw peer pressure, especially if I used one. Still have reservations about hurting durability.
62 today, so I’m definitely running saws today. Got a brand new bar and chain that need to get dirty.

Probably because the injector has to have x amount of fuel pressure to function? With no battery or fuel pump this makes sense with the injection. Thank for setting me straight.

Some people like that sound of an engine pulling over but not firing.;) To me it's more gratifying to hear the 1 pull and then it's running, but if the saws been sitting a bit a no fire priming pull then the second to start it is perfectly acceptable.

If they get both the 400 & 500 you are in for a MAJOR dilemma! :hair: :loco:  :saw:

I see a 200/201 rear handle in your future for that purpose Dakota Hoarder. Start using a saw that light an you'll agree. Took a while to get used to but its my go to for that purpose. Lots of my roadside scrounges are in tangles of brush, prickers, vines etc and usually on an embankment so wielding a heavier saw can get tricky.

If you get a chance to pick up one of those cheap go for it. Just my 2 cents.

My 194T and 201 rear handle both have them. Interesting the 201 top handle doesnt.

No building but the storage room downstairs is soon to be renamed "the chainsaw room"!  :saw:

Yes sir. That’s exactly it. It needs initial pressure to start. After that, the generator in the fly wheel provides power

which Stihl are you referring to? I go from 59cc (361) to 77cc (460) so a 400i would fill a nice "void".
This CAD is killing me again.
I seemed to be recovering nicely after the 500i purchase and now this. :loco:  :hair:

462 is 72cc. If you count older models it gets more crowded. The funny thing is most tree services don’t have as many saws as you. Running ones anyway.
