I've got the factory spray in liner on my 2016. I like it, but for firewood duty, the drop in liner is easier to clean, and you can slide the wood in or out. The spray in is super grippy, add you can't slide wood at all, or sweep the dust and crud out. Drop ins probably have better dent resistance too.

I do haul most of my firewood with a trailer though. ;)

I hate rust too. I plan on keeping my 16 a while too. That is unless something else trips my trigger.
I've had mine 2 years now in a couple days, I bought it as birthday present to myself.

I'm not a big fan of gm, to be honest, but even with the gm supplier discount I couldn't justify buying the current body style GM's . I also have the fca/ ram jeep supplier discount too, and came close to buying the current style ram rebel.

    Ok, the 5.0 wins...I guess!

My 5.4 was weak in my F250, but I thought the 6.2 would be nice and hopefully would prove to be a stronger engine than the 5.0. To prove my ignorance, I have no idea what v6 is in my wife's Edge. Lol

3.5 probably. That's pretty much the basis of the 3.5 ecoboost, just no turbos;)

Missed Out on this one for about 28,500 the other day.it drove REALLY NICE!! Just wasn’t ready to pull the trigger. It checked all the boxes plus 6.5 bed. Little more bling than I’m used to, but sure does look nice. The guy does salvage rebuilds and is now looking to build one for me . We’ll see how it goes, could take a month or 2. He’s a Ford guy and says he likes the 3.5 better than 5.0. It’s hard to wrap my head around pulling with a V6:hair:

Yah, I highly considered a Ram (wife’s car has a 5.7 and really like it) until I learned about the aluminum body. Did a mention that I fricking hate rust!! Horkn what f150 you got? Any pics?

Not sure what you get with the 5-3 Chevy, but from what I understand of the F-150 fleet at work, if you tow, the 3.5 ecoboost mileage drops off faster than the 5.0. For instance, on the highway, the 5.0 might get 17.5, and the 3.5 gets 19. Start towing something heavy, and the 5.0 might get 13, and the 3.5 might get 10. Those aren't real numbers, just throwing them out there for comparison. If you pull a trailer to Florida, or even around town several days per week, the 3.5 may be a less efficient truck than the 5.0. If you tow very little, like me, the 3.5 is the more economical engine. Just don't be surprised if the 3.5 gets worse mileage while towing than your old truck. It has all the power you'd want, it just burns fuel to get it. Then makes up for it when you're not towing. Keep in mind, I'm passing on what I hear the fleet guys at work talking about. I haven't experienced it firsthand, b/c I've never driven the 5.0. Cold weather and wind seem to hurt the 3.5's efficiency a bit more than the 5.0's as well, from what they tell me. Pushing denser air gets you into the boost more, I guess.

For me, I get the highway miles without the towing, so the 3.5 is the obvious choice. I was working a job 200 miles south of me a couple of years back, and the road I had to take was 60 mph speed limits. I set the cruise at 68, and my truck was getting 800 miles out of a 35 gallon tank. The big tank is nice if you can get it, unless it's sub zero temps out and you have a slow pump... I'm a super crew, 5.5' bed, with a 3.31 gear ratio, and the 6-speed. So a different game if you get the 3.55 or 3.73 gear ratio. I think 5th gear in my truck is about equal to 6th gear in a 3.73. Choose the towing gears, and that would drop the fuel economy a bit, compared to what I was talking about.

Everyone says that there is no replacement for displacement... I guess that is true to some extent, but there are guys out there trying to break the 3.5's (I've seen videos of towing on race tracks making the engine glowing a dull red), and they don't seem to break them by overworking them.

In the end, both engines are good. I doubt you'd regret either of them.

I've driven it to Maine and back as well as to Florida and back and on the freeway I can get well over 20 mpg. I think I got 22 mpg on that florida trip.

I'd say you are on the level. Did you, with that longer commute, that 2.7 ecoboost would've really shined. 4x4 supercrews with the 6 spd get 25 mpg real time on the freeway. The 10 spd version even slightly better.

I've got the 3.31's and the big tank in my 6 spd 16 5.0. with the 5.5' bed. So similar aside from the engine.

Most are. My mom has a 14 edge with that 3.5. the only ecoboost edges are 4 cylinder or 2.7 ecoboost.

    Oh boy!

Our 4runner is black, that's the wife's rig. I won't ever buy anything bigger than a snowmobile or a motorcycle in black ever again.

Good info. I pull a cargo trailer for my summer job and a boat on road trips . In reality probably only pulling 5% of the total miles. So I’m sure I’ll be really happy with either engine.

Nice! I’m drooling over that truck! They want stupid money for trucks like that around here. Liking the correct craft as well. The correct craft has to throw a great small wake for skiing

Agree! Hopping my new F150 is white! Bought my Silverado new black,it really looks good clean... then you take it outside! I said never again ! What a PIA to keep clean! Then, wife’s car is black, kids Titan is black! When you buy used color isn’t a priority, but if I have a choice I’ll never go black!

4th black F-150 in a row that I’ve had. People laugh at me for always getting the same thing. The company I work for has a limestone quarry that I have to go into once in a while. Limestone dust or mud is even more impressive looking.

The car wash down the road sells monthly memberships. Pretty sure they’re losing money on me... Just haven’t been washing it the past several weeks, because of the cold, and not wanting to deal with frozen shut doors and tailgate.

The CC makes a nice wake at slalom speed, but at 2000rpm it makes a great wakeboarding wake, especially with fat sacs and or a few people in the back seat.
I went from a loaded Audi to the truck. I needed all the bells and whistles in my truck. What's funny is that this truck actually gets better mpg than that v8 Audi. It's not as fast as the Audi, but I have a 2 wheeled vehicle for speed;)

    My BIL bought a ram 6.4 2500.
He got as low as 3.5:confused:
