Needed to get out and get a bit of exercise so decided to buck up some wood and do a little hand splitting. I finished up some beetle kill pine I had here. Another 2/3 of a cord stacked and split and got the date put on for the rotation.
We had about an inch here from last night and this morning but by this afternoon most of it has melted. The sun felt good.
Nice stack. I thought about taking a pic of my winter stack, but I’m more anxious to get a dry weekend to cut.
We had some snow on the ground for about 2 weeks and then the sun and some warmth has finally melted most of it. The snow fall lately has been small like an inch here and there is all. I would like to see some more moisture.
That lodge pole I split and stacked today was from a trip last summer that I took up in the mountains. I try to save a certain amount for the winter so I can get some good exercise.
We got 6" of heavy wet snow in my area. But my sister in Littleton got 15 inches last night! Denver got 12"-14"!
Nice stacks as always there MC! Ive labeled racks with a sharpie like that. Which saw did the honors?
Thanks Brad. The saw is an old Poulan 3400 that I changed the top end on to take it from 54 cc to 60cc.
Truth! Though we are mostly only our pellet stove now, for decades we burned lodgepole. Dried it in rounds after bucked. It literally makes a cracking sound when my husband splits it with his maul. I did not know about coals from hardwood til I joined here and it sounds wonderful, but also seems a lot harder to process and dry. Not that we have a choice in anything but lodgepole and occasional pinion.
