It definitely has a "ping" sound to it.

It has a great "Ping" to it. Similar to some of the old two strokes dirt bikes in used to ride. I sounds like a nice (pre power valve) 250 cc bike.

my wife did that rag thing, was riding down the road and the rear wheel locked and the engine died. wife got warm riding and took her jacket off and wrapped it around her waist, well it gor loose and sucked into the drive chain locking everything up. she was upset but other than that all was ok.

    Yep. Very much so

Cut4fun or KilliansRedLeo can comment on it better than I.

The main difference is the Solo has a longer crank stroke. So it has 65 cc over the 64 cc of the Dolmar or Makita. And the Solo also has a Closed quad port cylinder, over the open port design of the Dolmar.

But the exterior is almost the same.

You are right on the old MX bike, the older Dolmars with the Sachs designed engines sounded even more MX-ish! Ala Dalesford or Penton!

From what I gather from the comments so far, everyone seems to be pleased with the saws. We still have to wait for comments from Steven, Randy and the two Adams in CA. Also to see what a ported one from Randy adds to the pile!

Steven, I know JChin shipped your saw last Wednesday, so was wondering if you received it yet and what your thoughts were?

I bought the Sugi for my 362, but because it won't be here till the end of the week, I popped it on the 665.. I was gonna run the Total on the 665, but may put the Total on the 362.... Decisions. . :)

Sugihara and Total are both made by Sugihara. The Total version is the standard version of the Sugihara bar re-branded. Very good bars! And Dexter, the Sugihara bar does look great on the Solo, too bad they did not use RED plastic for the spacer in the bar! I would weigh both power heads and put the Sugihara on whichever is weighs more.

I thought Total was made by Tsumura? Just like the Laser Pro ULTRA is the Japan made tsumura or here Total Super.

That's what I thought as well? Tsumara made bars for Carlton and I thought the Total brand. But I have been wrong before and will be wrong again. :)

Because Tsumara light weights use a different spacing (two rows/top and bottom) and the replacement tips are different?

See the tip on the Total and on the Sugi?
