Conflicted.. parts of me feel guilty as when my mother went stage 4 cancer I stayed at my parents house and my father and I provided end of life care for her as was her wish.

Dad said that’s what he wanted also; but then he sold his home, his Alzheimer’s and diabetes went out of control, disowned me for 5 years because I called him out on poor behavior when he came to my house and made my wife cry.
Then he needed cataract surgery required drops every 6 hours and he doesn’t have a right elbow, steel plate and rod, ironically because his climber let go as he was in a maple tree. So he needed help with drops 1 brother said it’s xxx a week
So he moved in with us. That’s easier than driving too city finding parking. While here we helped him with socks, compression legging not having to clean and especially cook
. His health greatly improved and the new place is only 4 miles from me has a view of lake and heated floors. And he gets meals and meds and help with socks. He is step 1 they go to step 3.

I still feel guilty that I can’t do it all but he is my dad

the good news he got to know his granddaughter and her him that’s a blessing

It’s just about 40 here and I can hear dripping water and snow melting everywhere. You know it’s been a long cold winter when you’re outside in a sleeveless t-shirt when it’s high 30s out. I just moved (what should be) the last of this year’s firewood in under the deck. Spruce, Aspen, tulip poplar, and cottonwood to finish the season out. I still have red oak, locust, black birch and ash stacked outside the back door for overnight burns. I started stacking the white pine from my Chipdrop “score”. There’s a lot of work left to do on that to get it processed. I’m trying to get it done while there’s still snow on the ground because once that’s gone, my backyard will be a miserable quagmire and I’ll have to wait several weeks for the ground to dry up.

Looks like they have enough ice to get going. It will be a very short season for them this year. Shuts down mid March. This is on Tide water so the shore line is all broken up. I think they have a ramp attached to the shore so it goes up and down with the tide and is safe walk on out to the shacks which are only a few feet from shore.
