Cleared this area last fall, & finally dug the splitter out of the snow. Cut & split about a cord outta this pile. 20210220_093739.jpg 20210220_093650.jpg 20210220_093636.jpg

It was a really nice day for wood working. Got to 28 & very little wind. Pretty productive for about 5 hrs worth.

Didn't do any splitting yesterday but did service my tractor and then moved some hay, touched up snow removal in barnyard and pushed back some snowbanks. Supposed to warm up and rain and/or snow Sun and Mon so wanted some extra room when it gets sloppy out. Nice area. Amazing how warm 21 degrees can feel!

Ha, for sure Dennis, it's time to get out & get moving!
I've been pushing banks back here as well, anything 20 & above feels downright nice right now.

It's about 20 here right now, and I can't find any motivation like you did. Splitting w/ a crust of ice on snow just isn't luring enough to make me want to dig a spot in. Mainly because I don't need to. Was this a need or want situation? :saw: :axe::stack: I'd certainly do it if I needed wood for inside warmth.

Good job on the firewood processing. :handshake:

Others would have balked at the weather conditions and put it off until who knows when? Nothing wrong with a "bit" of work in the snow! :rofl:

Definitely a need situation, I needed out in the fresh air bad lol. I enjoy firewood work in the winter, gets me outta the shop & moving. I've got enough css for some time to come, but I like to be well prepared ahead if I can.
The pile in the pic was a tree service grapple dump of about 4 cord. The semi load is coming tomorrow or Tuesday.
If it stayed sunny & mid 20's I'd be in heaven for months lol. Perfect working weather for me.

I’m still gonna go cut a load this afternoon because of how nice the weather is, but you’re absolutely right! I know every round is going to have an inch of snow stuck to it after it falls on the ground so then you gotta knock/brush it off as best you can before putting it in the truck.:hair::wacky::doh: Maybe I’ll regret it? I’ll let you know:rofl:

You definitely inspired me. I got the old WheelHorse out and brought in a few loads.

Better than wading through the slop in a few days! Nice work and beautiful looking weather:yes: Got out myself and yep, snow stuck to everything, but still worth it! C442FD25-A925-4EF4-808C-D686EE31F066.jpeg

Looks like some heavy stuff there! Much better than a workout in a gym though.

It was heavy for sure! Probably shouldn’t lift everything I do. Hard headed I guess:headbang: That oak doesn’t have to be that big to be heavy though.

    For sure!

I remember one time I had cut a red oak and as we quit that day Judy was wondering how many women would be doing what she had done. While I was cutting, she would roll the logs over to the trailer and once in a while she would even wrestle one into the trailer too! Those buggers were heavy but she loved doing it.

I also remember one time one of our sons got into a lazy streak. I'd tell him to get a certain log but he would not want to. It was too heavy. After a couple times of this I told him to never mind. His mother would do it...and she did. It did not take many times of this and that was the end of that stage of his life.
