I have gotten to where I can tell if it is going to be hard to split and save it for the bonfire my kids love.

I was swapping between the isocore and the X today on a medium sized soft maple (red) round. The idea was to do the heavy lifting with the isocore and then precision it into smaller splits w the X, but I was switching too much and I kept missing my mark, causing lots of extra swings and splinters. By the end of this one round it seemed like I was getting a system down... well, plenty of splitting left on this across the street score. I definitely didn’t have any luck halfing and quartering like I do with
Locust or Well behaved Red oak.
