You're a better man than I Brad. I wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes doing that before I "informed" him of my opinion.

Family so i bit the bolt as long as i could. I did a bunch of work Summer of 2018 before their wedding. On my hands and knees working, crawling around in dirt under the deck in the heat. Him coming home and not even saying hello and offering to help.
Building a 16 x 16 dance floor in the yard and setting up 2x10 bench seating for the ceremony in the pouring rain the day before the wedding and taking it apart the days after.
He is lazy and doesnt like to be told what to do. Doesnt last long at jobs and all he does is answer the phone! His mom spoils the chit out of him.
Sad thing is its a gorgeous log cabin house that i marvel at every time im there. Yard is a mess, trash, clutter everywhere.
Sorry for the rant! A bit bitter i guess.

    How old is this guy?

Let me guess, about 25? The entitlement mentality of that generation is awful. If my kids ever act like that they'll receive a swift kick in the azz like I got.

I can tell you exactly how that person will turn out. Very similar scenario in-law member here. Helped hi move a few years back and he pretty much watched everyone else do the work.

The last thing I unloaded was a small end table. He was at the doorstep of the destination (another house) and I set it on the doorstep for him as he watched. He said I'll get the door, I said you can get the table. His sister grabbed it for him and I said....Let him carry that, not you!

As long as I remember, someone has bailed him out....with everything!

    I better quit now.

He may have a log cabin, but you have traits like reliability, strong worker, respectful, dedicated, loyal, friendly. These are the things that matter and carry you for the long term. And these are just the traits I’ve seen here on the forum! I don’t make a habit of wishing ill on people like this, but the odds are against him if he doesn’t change his ways. Hopefully he’s just a late bloomer and not a completely lost cause. He’s got a good role model if he ever decides to try being a man:yes:

SD Steve What did your boss end up saying about the house? Or did he just blow it off as some of my old bosses would?
