I found this in the Wall Street Journal decades ago. It may help those of you who are still looking forward to your kids growing up. Heaven's Above If children moved away at twelve We'd wring our hands and grieve; Thus God provided teen-age years To make us glad they leave. Steve Cornett
Couple seasons ago my good buddy and I took our kids to an ice fishing derby. It was single digits and the wind was blowing a gale. We got some strange looks. Quite sure some thought it was child abuse. They lived trough it and are tougher for it.
Took home all the trophies it sounds like too! Adversity....becoming a thing of the past! Few want a challenge any more let alone any discomfort.
I 'd like this one twice if I could......I was thinking the same thing when I saw 2500 or 3500. ***** Now I am surprised no one has said it yet after the picture......Don't mind the mule, load the wagon
I don't remember it coming into use until sometime in the 70's. The only time school (high school) was closed due to cold was when the temps were somewhere between -40 and-50. Couldn't get half the buses started so they called off school for the day. Never had grade school cancelled due to cold when I was there.
I have a dodge 2500HD (basically 1ton suspension) had 2 round bales (2000lbs) in the bed the other day and she only sagged about 2 inch's from stock height, you definitely feel bumps a lot more but still handles just fine at 70.
, hey I was on the interstate the other week, that's up to 75! The back roads can be too if your running late
I remember when they started it. Before that we just knew when the wind blows it really drives the cold into you; we did not have to be told. Today the wind chill is given just because it makes the weather sound worse. Like wow! it is 20 below zero...wind chill. I remember someone once telling me how much anti freeze to put in a radiator. He always said as you go down the road the wind chill really dropped and that is why you had to set the reading for so low. So, tell me. If the temp is 31 degrees, the ice will form but rather slowly. But if the wind is blowing at 25 mph, that ice will form much faster and get thicker and harder. Right?
