Happy belated Birthday Brandon Scott !

29* out and getting freezing rain. Was hoping to get a decent bed of snow under it so it would soak in and be easy to remove, but that has not been the case. I see getting sand pails out in my future. Fortunately I don't have to drive to work (I just have to turn my chair around :D), so it isn't a huge deal, just an annoyance.

We ended up with just about a 1/4" of glaze ice here and 28 degrees before midnight. The wind must have shifted around as it is warmer and more easterly off the ocean now. Sitting at about 34 and steady rain. Anything ice on walkways and cars is loosened up and salt trucks have been out 2x this morning. Hopefully we will be above freezing until this mess dries out. Could have been worse.

    Update to this ^ ^ ^
Didn't even get 4"...maybe 2", with a layer of freezing rain/sleet/ice pellets on top.
Not sure how you get freezing rain when its 20* out...but we sure nuff did! o_O
I agree...the weather guesser are sure a bunch of alarmist! :hair:
They were speculating that we could get 12" initially...:picard:

We might have an inch and it’s sleet and freezing rain now and 23 degrees. Oh joy! They say we might get an inch or two today now, not the 4-7 they said yesterday. Screwed me for the next week and a half adjusting my schedules and no time to fill.

Well I messaged Dennis this morning and said we were a bit cool out here in NW Iowa these last few weeks.

I told him it wasn't too bad because we hadn't reached - 30.

After I sent the message to him I looked again and we did hit -31. Guess that means I'll put the shorts away I was going to wear to work.

Well locally we have the one that would rather make salsa, one that is getting so old he thinks he’s forecasting for the D Day landings and a fresh one right out of weather school with all the gadgetry. They couldn’t tell you what yesterday’s weather was let alone what tomorrow’s will be. They also make pretty good money to be wrong all the time. Before all these computer models they were pretty good about getting it right.

We got close to 12" of snow last night....hard to say for sure because it blew around so much. Going to take the kids sledding behind the quad after lunch.

Our 2-4" of Lake Effect Snow is already about 5".
Milwaukee and South to the Illinois border by the lake are about a foot, give or take. They were only expecting 5-8".

Well, I did get the snow shoved around and my temporary fixing job held up okay. Hopefully it won't be needed again until next winter but maybe I should fix it right asap.

The ice event passed us by. Temps rose overnight and whatever we had melted. It was 39° at 9 this morning and it’s going up to 49° if you can believe it. Big temp swing coming and it will go down to 18° overnight.

We got about 2 inches of frozen granular junk. My son said it is very heavy and difficult to move. As usual, I don't step foot outside. I was suppose to go to the VA today for two appointments, but I called them are rescheduled early this AM. Didn't know the storm would stop so soon. I only live about 3 miles away from the VA. It is the ice that caused me to change my appointments. Don't want to risk falling and then being a burden on someone else to help get me back up.
