Ok you, stop with the bear torture.

My auger motor did come today so there are now a lot fewer pieces parts lying around. Still have to get the back of the stove on, and Mrs Bear needs to lend a paw because getting the air intake tube on is either a three pawed job or one for a contortionist.

It is the left hand side that getting the bolt back on that is a problem. The right hand side bolt is already to be tightened. That lack of room thing again

By the end of tomorrow morning I should have everything back together except for the combustion blower and the stove top.

Hopefully my gaskets get here tomorrow and I can finish the job.

Savemoney, my bucket of bolts has lasted through 6 heating seasons. If one discounts the teething pains (lots of folks have tossed up their hands with these stoves) it has done well.

We also got out to the Goodwill (one bag of yarn for kids mittens and hats Mrs Bear has made many for elementary schools), one hardware store (set screw and clear silicone sealant), and Bray's where I pigged out on a sausage platter and a Old Church Pale Ale.

I'm still debating whether to replace the two snap discs, I'm looking for a ceramic 3/4" airstream close on rise 110F snap disc (plastic not wanted combustion blower cowling mount point). I have located a 3/4" open on rise manual reset airstream 250F snap disc. The two I have on the stove are fine, however the manual reset one is pain to reset and the POF comes on later than it could and shuts off before it should.

I try to do a little bit each day, tomorrow is wash day this week, Friday will be hay the fields day. The boss will be at quilt club most of tomorrow and Friday afternoon she heads to camp and to work at the State Quilt Guild's Quilt Show (major undertaking) in Augusta.

Well the air intake tube, the back of the stove, the ground wire, and thermostat wire are back on the stove. Next up the OAK and convection blower, have the first laundry load in the dryer and the second in the washer, currently stuffing the bear with food. Need a combustion blower gasket before I can test it.

What a pain to work on.

    Hey smoke

When I replace a Saranac igniter, I use the 12" drill driver extension, it is long and thin and gets all the way in! LOL

Sometimes if you just take out the low limit snap disc and clean the ash off with a wire brush it will work correctly! That is what I do.
Some stoves mount the snap on a bracket and do not have a hole in the exhaust housing so they never get dirty! Nice Idea!

Your stove is a really good stove, the 3 sided glass makes it look good and it really cranks out the heat!

Still I like to sand down the brass coloring on the trim and use Satin Black and Flat Aluminum on the grill for that Modern Look.

Did you clean the old Brass Auger bearing and auger while you had the motor off?
Also what do you think about replacing the brass auger bushing with Nylatron to make the auger motor last longer?

I also had to fix the dishwasher in the middle of all this for the family. Did you see this? What an escapade!

The point of changing the low limit is to start the heat into the room sooner and for the stove to not shut off with a Bear arm unfriendly mass of hot metal. Fan stops Bear cleans.

The issue I have with the high limit is it is a pain to reset when it trips, claws are too big and resorting to a small screwdriver is not good for it.

The auger bearings were clean and in good shape. I didn't have any issue with the below the border auger motor it managed to lift over 30 ton of pellets before it quit. I replaced it with a Gleason Avery unit for $65.99 shipping included all the way from Dale, WI shipped Monday arrived Wednesday.

While I was in there I fixed a little issue that results in fines dust ending up in the convection blower side of the stove and on the squirrel cage of the blower. I removed the top of the stove and ran a gasket around the top edge of the hopper. Be dammed if I'm going to sift my pellets.

Last winter I used a folded over piece of silicone gasket to stop the doors from rattling, I glued up a couple of pieces of gasket to try out this season.

At the moment I'm debating about something involving 1" steel plate better than 25 pounds of it. Got to talk with a certain retired thermo guy.

I thought you might say something.

No muss, no fuss. I got it through Amazon no less. I ordered three items the first two arrived Tuesday and the third on Wednesday.

I also am about to pull the trigger on some materials from Lowe's to do a small project in the garage and then it is order pellets time.

October 1st was the norm, But I'll be ready by Labor day! ;)

By ready I mean pellets in and stove done. One good thing with the stove in the basement is the basement is much cooler than the rest of the house when its hot out. So I tend to stay down there and putts around some. Move some pellets in the AM before it gets to humid and stack at my leisure.

When I was a Tenant in a Tenament in Mass, the state law is that the Landlords are required to turn heat on Oct 15 th until April 15 th, if memory serves me correctly. However Vermont and Maine may have a very different law? LOL

Heating time is when I want a fire. Doesn't matter what the date. Wife is usually the first to run the stove.

Most tenant related laws for heating go Oct to April usually on the 15th however that only applies if heat is included in the rent, it is not uncommon for heat to be the tenant's responsibility.

For a long time (16 years or so) I was a landlord and never did I include heat in the rent.

I bet you didn't have any trouble collecting rent. I know if a bear knocked on my door asking for money, I'd give it to him!
