With "Great sadness" Old smoker #5 finally gave up the Ghost! The bottom fell out of it last week and I had to haul it off to the great bone yard in the sky. That was the 5th one I made exactly like the last 3 and the 1st wasn't bad but I made improvements on the rest. It smoked and cooked for about 8+ years now, Many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners cooked on it, She served me well. My wife and I were discussing smoking a pork butt this weekend, about two weeks ago and when out, I opened it and saw the bottom had mostly rusted/fell through. So, somehow there is a silver lining to this story and God works in weird ways! . My wife went to Home depot to grad a shower caddy and saw the picture below! She texted me and said; "There are 2 here, should I grab one"? I said HELL YEAH! A new smoker for $100.00. I don't have the time to build another, and I've been dealing with a gout/arthritis issues so she got a little Char-Griller on 1/2 price sale. Needless to say, I was happy and usually things like this "DON'T" happen to me/us. Well, I spent all day yesterday Freezing my A$$ off putting it together and I seasoned it last night. This morning at 0500, I started a 10lb Pork but for some pulled pork! Details later!
You can limp by with that for a bit WeldrDave Either that’s a covered porch/patio area or you ain’t got no snow....
We only got a dusting, we had the snow, rain, freezing rain, back to snow then rain again. Kinda the norm around here on the coast.
I think we'll make it!!! I'm sure your aware, (maybe) My wife Chrissy is from Wisconsin and I've trekked all through New England. We don't panic Like some do around here when they call for snow. I would love to go video the grocery stores when they call for 6" or more, it's an all out Zoo!!! People think they'll be stuck till spring...
I didn't know that. OK then, instead of milk, bread and eggs....Are you stocked up on beer, brats and cheese curds? I used to use that smoker a lot! Chicken, turkey, brisket, pork shoulders, beef roasts.......the standard type of fare. I guess if I don't use it this summer, it'll go onto the "items for sale list".
