Not bad out this AM. 23 now, overcast, and breezy.

I managed to put enough wood on the boiler yesterday morning that it didn't go out overnight like the night before(pro tip). Reloaded this AM with some more white oak.

I think someone turned up the T-stat in the basement a little yesterday driving up wood consumption. No big deal, but didn't plan for it.

15F & dropping with a 5mph NE wind. Stuffed the boiler with Oak & Elm. Made it to 20 briefly with sun so it wasn't too bad out. Clouding up now with a little snow coming they say.

Lately here it's ranged from single digits to high teens. We've been burning mostly red oak and black locust. I have to restock my ready stack this weekend and imagine it will be mostly sugar maple. They are predicting significant snow starting Saturday night so I need to get it done by then.

17f here in Northeast Pennsylvania today. Just filled up my indoor wood bin with 3 year old red oak and black locust that I had in my emergency stacks. I call them that because I have them closest to the hatch where I toss the wood in. I planned it for deep snow when my ATV cannot be driven easily or at all with alot of snow, which we have now, about 18 inches of snow pack. Also easy to move wood into the basement with wheel barrow.

Rope. How big is burn chamber in your boiler? And approximately how big of splits do you use?

    Firebox - 50"L x 36"H x 30"W Door - 23"W x 23"H

When you're older and half broken down like myself, the size of the splits is regulated only by the door and what you can lift. :salute:

I trust you're about fully recovered now?
