We had a low of 18.4 this morning with more sugar maple and some limb wood going in the wood stove. I just through on some junky limb wood to help burn down some coals.

0f with -18f windchill. That wind is howling. Heading for mid-teens below tonight. When I left for the lake this morning it was -5.

I let the gas furnace kick in a few times early this afternoon while letting some coals burn down enough to be able to clean out the firebox a bit. With the coals and passive heat from the sun through our south facing windows, the furnace didn't have to kick in more than a handful of times.

Fire is back to burning sugar maple, furnace is turned off, and the house is toasty warm.

Up to a blazing 1F, wind still blowing strong in the negative teens.
Dogs went out with me just a bit ago and they only lasted about 5mins before there paws got to cold, so I let them back in and went back to cutting up some wood. Face got all frosty from breathing but wasn't bad when I was working.

We are expecting 5 to 8 inches of snow this evening, so I brought in some small 3" splits of red oak to keep the flames going in the Aspen stove.
Now I sit in my comfy chair with my feet up by the stove and am watching the snow come down.
    I am content.

Let the OWB burn down some coals......temps dropped to 162 before I did a small reload.

Cherry, maple and yellow birch on it's menu for tonight!

    Never got above zero today.

Calling for some snow tonight through tomorrow morning and maybe later in the week. Brought wood down to reload the stack on the deck. What a quagmire the freezing and thawing makes. Mud here, ice there... I hate the mess. Was told cold snap here coming at end of week. We'll see. Hackberry and a couple oak chunks doing the job keeping house at 72*

It's 17.4 tonight with a forecast low of 11, the Liberty has a load of sugar maple, beech and ironwood in it.

We'll put in another two loads of beech and sugar maple tomorrow before our cold snap hits and then I can finish plowing.

3° here now, headed to -9° tonight. Ash going now, probably some combination of ash, locust, apple, ironwood and Shagbark hickory when I reload in a bit for overnight.

It’s 23 at 11pm, but temps are dropping through the night and after sunup, it continues to get down to 10. Mainly getting rid of cast-off poplar. It does a better job than expected on cold days.

I think this is the lowest temperature this Winter. Still awaiting the sub zeros.

-15f and still falling. Got up and added some sugar maple and black ash to the hot coals.

I heard the furnace start kicking in around 2:30AM, but planning to keep it off now that we are up.
