Yes it is, our little town will be swamped with snowmobiles, we have a store, bar/restaurant and a liquor store.
For the past few years yes, back in the day this would've been a "nuisance" snow. 2013 was the last time we got a dump, about 18" in 24 hrs. I think. The wind & light snow is really screwing with all the city folk that have moved here in the last few years though. Lots of open fields, drifts, & hard pack on the roads. They have no clue till they meet the ditch.
7° out. Ash, ironwood, apple, and Shagbark hickory in the stove for overnight. 71° in the stove room, probably heading up to 76 or so before I hear about it.
24 here now, a warm overnight for this time of year, although the high is only supposed to be 33 today. Poked last nights coals around , cracked the door open and they turned cherry red and added some Sugar. And away we go!
I see what you did there, after my comment about you drinking coffee and the temps falling the other day, now you went the other way. Checkmate, you got me.
-7 currently. Stove room 71 over night. Ripping some 5x5 red oak. Calling for -13 tonight. Windchill might hit -30
15 this morning so not bad at all. Supposed to get colder but not looking forward to it. I'm beginning to wish for spring. The days are getting longer and we've been seeing a bit more sun so it will happen soon. Just have to get past this week of deep winter.
Mornin' all! 20 and snowing here this morning. We are predicted to get another 2-4" today. Currently red oak and black locust in the fire, and coffee brewing in the kitchen. Peace.
-7 when I got up this morning, still a strong wind that is in the -20s. 69 in the house, haven't filled the OWB yet so it's running on oak and cherry coals.
36F outside, 71 inside thanks to some red oak, chestnut oak and black cherry. Hoping to get a good bed of coals established then keep the fire fed with one or two splits at a time so as to not cook ourselves out of the house.
Going up to 39° And running on #2 until the temps drop tonight. Expecting 3-6” of snow starting Sunday morning. Luckily some of the last storm's 20” has melted the past two days.
14f at 6:00 this morning. About 4" of fresh snow. Still a stiff west wind. Had to make an unexpexted trip to the city, that was crazy. Boiler loaded with Oak & Ash. Gonna eat & fire up the tractor.
-7 outside now headed for -15 tonight. Red oak cookin in house and garage. Everyone warm and toasty. Heading out to stack some oak and refill the wheel barrow's for tomorrow's reload.
